I thought I'd share our hunt from Northern Lower Michigan. Just a bunch of cousins and uncles trying to carry on whats been happening here for a long time. Our hunters range from 80 to 30 right now. We have 240 acres of property and hunt on and around it and are happy to take what the Hill gives us. I have to use a cane and wheels to get it done anymore...but still Oldest to the up and coming.. My 76 yr old cousin and I doing the "Fuzzy Wind Chime" We couldn't hold the cuz that bagged this one still enough to get him in the pic And last another of a happy group... A good year....our family's 73rd.

Thanks for the comments. It's something we all live for thru the year. Our "camp" actually consists of a group of 7 cabins on abot 5 acres of our property. Hunting here was always a family affair and years ago someone had the idea that everyone would get along a little better with some privacy. I don't have pics of all of them but I do have some of mine.... Humble Exterior Indoors Some Hooters Guarding the door

Nice camp and deer. Great your family is still hunting together, doesn't get any better.

Nice work! Glad to see someone in Michigan had good luck. Between my two uncles, dad, cousin and myself we had seen five deer total. Some say the weather others say the wolves. I have my money on the latter. Enjoy before the saber toothed mutts get a foot hold in the lower.

Thanks for all the positive feedback....:) This year was a great time. We went thru a spell in the last few where we lost almost all the previous generation in a 2 yr time span. This year was alot like the old times. Good fun and memories. I watch what you in the north and to our west are struggling with where woofs are concerned and its a worry. The state admits to 4 breeding pairs now in the Lower so its inevitable. One of our Elk seasons starts next week and if we can get some snow it will be interesting to see what is reported for tracks with that many people in the area where they have been spotted.
Keep the fire burning.... Scott

Well, oddly enough I scored on a six pointer at 5:00 PM on 11/30. Nothing like getting it done in the eleventh hour. Some would call it an eight but he had a smallish brow tine and a broken tine on the main beam. So, it's a six. At any rate its meat in the freezer. I got him across the road from my house north of Grand Rapids just into the rifle zone. It is actually a more pleasant hunting in a " No Baiting" area. The deer are much more at ease when they meander by and they are not suspicious because of a bait pile. Not only that but it doesn't make hunting easy for coyotes or wolves. Hopefully this will keep things a little ahead of the game for us in the Lower.

Congrats Brinky! Thats the way to hang in there. Never been much of a baiter here. We have alot of funnels leading to cover and/or feeding areas and thats what we concentrate on. I've muzzloaded in the Big Woods of the UP and thats a bit different. The guy who I was a guest of was a big believer in "Groceries" as he put it but that was the days before the wolves really emerged. Now I would imagine it would just be a woof ambush site.

73rd! I love it! Very cool!
There is definately something to be said for a long and steady connection to the land like that.
I wouldn't be able to sit still if I'd have shot that buck, either!
Looking forward to meeting you in just a few weeks Scott,
efw

Thanks! I talked to my dad and uncle and the season ended poorly for them. I think they are finally convinced and hopefully they only groceries they bring next year are for us to eat. My dad made a few comments on how he hunted as a kid in the Keweenaw and how they did well without any bait back when they couldn't afford to bait deer. There is hope for reform yet.
