No, it sounds like a barrel burner. If you want a 22-250, get a Savage so you can rebarrel it yourself.

I like it bearhuntr, shoot a couple for me, I would even consider buying you some bullets for the task, you hand load the .22-250?

Yep. Have for many years. Thanks for the bullet offer, though I assure you that I'll probably not run out in my lifetime with what I have on hand.

I am always looking for "freebies" for the new 6.5 Rem. Mag though wink

best,
bhtr

Unlike some folks I like Tikka T3s. As far as the 22-250, an 8" twist option (like the 223) would be in my closet right now if they offered one.

You need to call it. I can't call it for you.

I'm glad so many find it interesting.

That will be the next Soldotna Equestrian Association rifle raffle. We can't sell tickets until 2011 unfortunately.

That's not too far off though!

Hell, three more weeks and we start to gain daylight! smile

Well, I am like that too, if I stopped buying bullets today, at my current shooting levels, I guess I will be on the other side of 90 when I need to buy more. I'm 55. I got piles and piles of bullets. I even have a bunch of Nosler Partitions, that were made on the old screw machines. Those puppies are old, I bought them in 1969, I like the 2.25 a box price tag. I think I have maybe 80 of them, 175 gr Semi Spitzer's 7mm that I loaded for a 7mm RM at the time.

1-14 kinda keeps your bullet selection limited.

My 1-14 shoots the 53 TSX and the 63 Sierra both very well (as have all 14's I've run) and both of those will end to end muley deer so I feel covered.

But you're right, it won't shoot the bullets heavier than those if one feels compelled to use a heavy.

Not that I'll get in on the raffle, but if it has to be a Tikka T3, then....

an 8" twist stainless 223 would be the way to go.

It sounds good on paper, doesn't it? Unfortunately, Tikka coupled their .223 with a detachable magazine that just about as cramped for space as an AR mag. You still can't use that lovely 8-twist they way it should be used, because of COAL restraints. Bummer, for sure.
