I thought you guys might like to hear about this...

Have you herd of the land/hunt club management tools at The Hunt Connection.

If you are a serious hunter and want to have the safest hunting environment while compiling stand statistics for your property you need to try this out.
It records wind speed direction and journals every hunt for you and your guys. Figures buck to doe ratios off sightings, and gives you a full report. Its a real cool application for any hunt club.

I make all my club members participate... they can all do so because its free for everyone to use.

Interesting service for free. Ever hear that little witticism
about lunchtime?

What is your tie-in to this organization?

I quickly scanned their privacy policy and it makes no mention of what they do with all of your personal data that you submit.

All of your submissions to their site become their property.

I'm immediately skeptical of any hunting related "anything" that uses the term "harvest" when it comes to killing animals. You harvest fruits, nuts, and vegetables.

I am not saying this is a bad site, but I would ask what their angle is. I don't think that site is constructed for the fun of it.
If I had to guess, it is an effort to gather data to be used by the "outfitting" crowd in the mid-west and the east to help them focus in on more attractive lands to lease, etc...
Known deer concentrations, a built-in advertising tool, that sort of thing.
Do you want outfitters camping out next door to your cherished honey hole?

They'd probably enjoy a little more enthusiastic participation if they openly stated their purpose.

And lost the PC language.

Have a good day man. In honor of personal freedom and the open squirrel season, I think I'll go put a hole through dinner's head.

Dang what a skeptic,
Joe 788, you are so far off base that I hope you have a GPS to get back.
You evidently did not read very far down the page.
I am CEO of the Company and yes I wanted to get the word out about what The Hunt Connection can do for hunters through web forums like this one.

No personal data is sold or given to anyone!

The site uses your zip code to tailor weather and wind for your location to help you hunt. It auto emails you when someone in your club signs in for a hunt so you don't walk in on him and screw his hunt up or give him the opportunity to shoot you.

As for the free lunch...anyone can participate for free but to have multiple tracts or get multiple stand data you have to join for $39.95 a year. The object is to make it free for the tight wads to still submit data for the clubs benefit.

No one can see anyone else's club records so scoping someone's spot is something that even someone with your devious mind can't do.
Thanks for the constructive criticism and I will change the privacy policy to set the skeptic mind to rest.

Sorry for the computer lingo our programmer is not a hunter, but I have tried to keep him in check.
I invented this site to help groups of people hunt together more safely and effectively and have fun while they do it. If I make a little cash I will be elated as so far it has been a money pit... but I love it and what it has done for my property. One of my tracts has a 1:12 buck to doe ratio, Think I need to shoot some does???

PS... I do call it deer harvest here in South Carolina. Apples, peaches, deer, hogs... God made them all and when I take them, kill them, and eat them, I thank Him for the harvest He blessed me with.

Chip,
You can do this right, and send Rick Bin a few advertising dollars.

It's amazing what a guy can do with Excel and Auto Filter. I would imagine my little program works just as well, and for no other cost than purchasing the computer.

Yea I started out this way 20 years ago. The better thing about this website is that it is synergistic. All the members of a club compile records together via the internet. I did exactly what your talking about and it got to be way too much work. My sight does it all for you...Journaling, stand stats, weather and wind...+ real time hunter locations for safety, all on a map with borders and stand locations . Its way nicer than anything you can do in excel. I started back in 1992 with Lotus 123, Ha Ha, technology has come a long way. It is cool to hear that other folks take the time to do what I always did.

I have PM'ed him to see if he wants to work something out. I'm always up for what is fair. Win-win is the way to go. I just haven't herd back from him yet.

None taken, I'm a regular hunter. No slicked back hair or tooth pick, but I can roll a poker chip across my knuckles. cool
Sorry I got my dander up, but if you have worked very intensely on a project for 2 years, and someone after reading just a paragraph of it thinks I want to steel information and hunting spots...it just riles me. I'll take it for constructive criticism and make some adjustments.

In the Southeast, hunt clubs are king. Not so much out west so this sight might not be a good fit for you guys out there. But we have used a sign in box and excel for years to make our club safer and to study our deer herd. I got the bright idea to make it better (more accessible) by going on line. The idea grew to hey I can help other guys and clubs do the same thing and for those who like it and are hard core hunters like me they might help pay for it.
If it ever make a dime I will be elated but for now I'm over 10 grand in the hole so I don't have too many quarters to flip.
I think it is totally cool and it does help make you a better hunter. Again it's free to try and if its not for you, you've lost nothing. If you like it...$39.95 a year and tell your friends. That's cheap in my book.

Act like a slick used car salesman and you get the appropriate amount of respect.

You could have not made my subtle point any better.

Try a little bit of honesty.

You made a post in the flavor of, "hey guys, look what I found!", implying that this is some great and wonderful tool provided for all to use for free. No open indication of your motives.

State your purpose openly. State who you are. State what you offer for what fee.
Pretty simple.

Instead, you make it come across like a "free" porn site. All you need is the "free tour" button.

Speaking of porn sites, what about your assuming ownership of all submitted photos and data? At least the amateur porn sites have the decency to superimpose words to the effect that the pic's are property of the submitter but hosted by XYZ Porn, Inc.

I applaud your efforts at turning a dime on hunting related activities and wish you success. If I come across as being highly critical of your endeavor it is not a character flaw on my part. It is the response of a reasonable man to questionable tactics.

I sincerely hope that you conduct your actual business practice in a much more upfront and honest way. Your marketing approach opens the door for all kinds of skepticism and probably costs you many potential customers. At least the ones who can think on their feet.

I have PMed rick and have not heard back??? Would love to work out something mutually beneficial as far as being a supporter.

It's legit. I love using it for my 3 hunt clubs. No scam, no selling email addresses.
Its free to use unless you want to take it to the next level & put multiple tract of land in, or have more than one club.
Its free to encourage 100% participation from club members, because the record keeping is synergistic. If you have a club of 8 guys and 4 don't like computers anyway they don't have to pay to submit data.
Not trolling, just simply wanted to let folks know about the hunt club tools. Isn't that the spirit of this site?
Some folks wanted to see Screen shots:

I was not trying to hide anything. We have done hunting/trade shows and had ads in papers and on other websites... I bumped into this site looking for a new stock for my RugerM77 and was asking if any of the guys had seen this...its brand new I just finished it in October.

My apologies Joe788, I over reacted to the criticism of my baby. and after reading your 1st post again with fresh eyes and attitude I could have explained myself better without the knee jerk reaction. I should tell you also one of my motives for building this site was safety. I had a good friend shot in a hunting accident, and thank God he is better today, but that is a tragedy I would not wish on anyone. That experience contributed to the creation of The Hunt Connection and if it spares anyone grief its worth it.
I don't know much about how the porn sites you mentioned handle pictures, our T&C is worded off a standard run of the mill form to keep everyone out of trouble and puts the responsibility of the legality of submition to the poster.

Hope anyone who tries the site enjoys it.

Then, as at least a courtesy, don't you think it might not be a bad idea to NOT advertise on his site for yours, until you get a reply and work something out?

Just a little professional courtesy tip, at least IMHO.

10-4, I gave him a banner link on the main page of my site until I get to speak with him. Fair is fair...right? Until then I will refrain from commenting about my site, and will just peruse the forum as a normal camper. I don't feel as if we are in any competition, my site is way different than this one.

Right. With 176 registered 'hunters', you're not in any competition with this site.

You now suck.
