Looking for new loads for a buddies 300 win mag I load for. It is a Weatherby Vanguard SS 300 win mag. Gun shoots factory loads well...my friend mainly hunts elk in the Pacific NW Wa St on the olympic peninsula. Most shots are well under 200 yds.

Good reason to use my favorite load:

180 Nosler partition
70 gr. IMR 4350
CCI 250 primer
Remington case

Another my rifle loves:

200 gr. Nosler partition
68 gr. IMR 4350
CCI 250 primer
Remington case

Both loads produce less than moa. accuracy in my Ruger M77 MKII and are max listed loads in the nosler reloading manual #4.

+1, although my rifle has a longer throat, and can take heavier loads, those are excellent. edit to add, I do use Federal 215 primers in it.

R-22 (75grs for my rifle) and either 180 TSX's or NAB's. I use Federal brass and Federal Gold Medal Match mag primers, out of my Rem Sendero chrony's at 3150fps with super accuracy. I've had good luck with H 4831 also.

73 gr of IMR4350 with a Hornady 180 gr BTSP. Listed as the middle load in an old Speer manual, and shoots 3140 fps, sub inch out of my M1000 Eclipse A Bolt.

Mine likes 69.0 gr of IMR4350 and a 180 gr Accubond. Shoots a half inch if I do my part, 70 grains opens it up a bit.

I will echo what others said - around 75gr of RL22 has always given great velocity & accuracy with various bullets across a few different .300 Win Mags for me. I typically get around 3050 +/- 50 fps with the 75/RL22 load. Around 78-80 gr of Ramshot Magnum works with 200 Partitions as well for 2850-2900 fps and has been super accurate.

My Rem 700SPS with a 26" barrel likes:

Win. Brass
Fed 215
76gr. RL-22
180gr. Accubond....3125fps, 3 shots around 1". My Rem mag box is long so I have this load OAL about .060" longer than factory length. The bullet is not touching the lands.

OR

Win Brass
Win WLRM
71gr. IMR-4350
180gr. Hornady SP.....3080fps, 3 shots just under MOA. The bullet in this load is seated to the bottom of the cannelure.

Both loads have killed elk cleanly and I wouldn't hesitate to use either again. I have gone to the dark side and now use:

Win. Brass
Fed. 215
78gr. RL-22
168gr. TSX....3250fps, 3 shot groups = 3/4" with boring regularity. Seated to the bottom of the top groove.

I know it's not a 180gr. load but it works so damn good I just had to share it!

All loads shot over a Shootin Chrony multiple times to verify velocities.
