Okay, suggestion time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif" alt="" />

I've got two T/C Contender flat-sied frames. Got four barrels: 10" octagon .221 Fireball, 10" octagon .357 Mag, 12" .44mag/2.5" .410 factory conversion, 14" .375 Win. Hunter.

Need a new barrel/caliber set-up. I have the forearms for all except the new 23"-24" G2 barrels, and both pistol grips and carbine buttstocks.

So, suggestions on a new caliber and barrel? Factory available rounds, please, no wildcats.

Just FYI - I've been thinking either a .22 LR or something with reach and caliber for deer, but am pretty open to suggestions (i.e. no really favorites right now).

Oh, BTW - I have 2 .22 rifles, a .22 revolver (accurate), a .380 auto, a .38 revolver, a .357 Mag. revolver, a .300 Savage 99, a 12-gauge, and a .50 cal. ML, just in case "what else is in the safe" is a consideration.

Buy the foreend for the carbine barrels and get a .204 Ruger. Far and away the most accurate factory barrel I have ever seen. It will do what your .221 will do at twice the range.

.22 LR for sure. And a 7-30 Waters is a heck of a deer rifle.

Try a .257 Roberts. The Virgin Valley contender bull barrel I have is awesome.

mikem and catnthehat;

HUH? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

There is no 250 Remington, and the CONTENDER is not chambered in .257 Roberts (too much pressure) AND VVA is out of business (yeah, I'm bummed about that too).

So, want to try again?

Get a 7-30 waters! good factory ammo for it and a ball to shoot!

I know, I have one!

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

How about the 6.8 Rem SPC? I don't know much about Contenders -- would that work?

7-30 Waters, for sure. Probably the best deer caliber ever chambered for the Contender.
