Fired a few rounds through my 45/70 24 inch Encore barrel today. Recoil was stiff but not uncomfortable by any means. Was just shooting factory Winchester 300 gr. hp's.

What I like about this barrel action setup is the lightness.

5 3/4 lbs with no scope, and while I had planned to put a scope on this barrel, I believe that a peep will go on the back and that is it.

What a light handy rifle this is, with some serious punch on the terminal end and not bad on the stock side. I think I'm gonna be pleased.

Mike, I have been thinking of Getting the same combo. I presently have a Contender pistol with a 45-70 barrel that I really like. I shoot some fairly hot hand loads and am very accurate out to 200 yards. Recoil is a mite stout but I like it. So as a companion gun the encore seems a natural, I already have 3 other 45-70 rifles so I guess one must go with a proven winner.

Bullwnkl.

!4" with muzzle break, I have shot one with out break and did not find a lot of difference in recoil, but the barrel with the break is really hard on the ears. I use ear plugs when hunting with it.

Bullwnkl.
