Hello , Wondering if anyone has any expertise in what would be a good bullet to shoot in this rifle? Would need to be store bought, no reloading for me, The rifle would have two uses, whitetail deer and coyote hunting, no concerns about hide damage on the dogs. Hunting ranges would be 200 yds and under majority of the time with a few opportunitys of a 400 yard shot. Below is the barrell description: Description
Barrel:
24" Length 416 Stainless steel bull barrel 6 grooves, right-hand 1x7.5 twist, button rifled Chambered in .260 Remington DPMS Panther LR 260 Model: RFLR-260

anything with a bullet weight around 140gr.
I shoot 142's out of my LR260 but it's never fired a round of factory ammo.

If you are wanting to shoot factory ammo, I would look for some 120 gr. Rem. AccuTips for a do it all bullet. Like mtmisfit, my 260's have never seen a round of factory ammo. If you start reloading the options really open up.

I have the same rifle as does a good friend. Both our ARs shoot the CorBon/Dakota 139gr. Scenars into tiny ragged holes ! I think there's two loadings; but this is a premium load running 2750fps. That bullet will get any job done ! It's a great rifle, too.I reload for mine with both the Lapua Scenars and Nosler 140 gr.Custom Competitions. Same results. One of the most accurate rifles, and easiest to shoot I've shot in a great long while. Congratulations on seeing the potential of the 260 in a black gun!Charles

The 260 does its best work with bullet in the 120 gr class for deer . The heavier 140 just don't open up as well. The 120 gr BT would be your best all around bullet for what you want to hunt. I believe Rem Factory loads the 120 gr BT and call it the ACCU-TIP .
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Federal also offers the 120 gr Ballistic Tip in a Federal Premium load. I've been shooting these factory loads for a few years now and no real complaints. As soon as I can get my hands on a box I want to try the 120 grain Federal Fusion ammo.
