I agree. I really like my KS in .338. I'm thinking of creating myself a new one.
Stainless 30-06 donor action.
Chamber in .280 Rem
Campfire Special McMillian KS Stock.

What I need to know is who do I contact to mimic the barell contour in .280 Rem?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My 700KS Stainless .280 doesn't have the same contour or length as my 700Mtn .280 in Blue did.

I Don't know which barrel maker was for the KS, but the KS is a Much Better shooter !

Totally agree with the custom route giving a better shooter at less than the new retail price. Not so sure about price performance comparisons in my case, as a local dealer was clearing them out at sweet prices when I bought mine. It was a 24" Stainless, so I jumped on it to convert to AI. Always sub MOA accuracy for first 3

Good luck with yours !

When they first came out they were using better barrels then the regular production run. I do not know what quality current production is. My last new one was purchased in 2000 and it was a nice gun but it had a great barrel, mcmillan stock . 280 Remington
