Well i picked up my bear last week, I do not have a digital camera but here is a picture from when I got it. Bear was shot around bella coola april 28 /04. Hide was 8 ft my 8 ft, skull was 24 inchs, only problem is my wife will not allow it in the house
Nice looking bear. So now that you spent all that dough on the hunt and are going to have a beautiful rug mad, where are you going to put it? Does she let you have any other trophies in the house? jorge
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
yes, all the coastal bears in BC seem to have the rubs, Strange but they rub in the fall after they have been eating salmon. My taxidermist told me he had never seen a big coastal with all his hair. It is a piece about 8 inchs by 16 inchs right on the edge of the rug.
The hunt was not that bad as I am a resident and we did it all on our own, total cost with out taxidermists charge was about $400. canadian. She allows fish and I have 2 mounted in the house
Man... if she's doing THAT now, you don't wanna KNOW what she'll be like in another 20 years... 'cause even the best of 'em get more and more "bossy" as the years pass.
You gotta realize that a woman's idea of "fair" is that she owns half of EVERYTHING right from the beginning... even if YOU bought and paid for it all!!! Then, in another 10 years, "fair" changes again... and she wants "her" half plus HALF of YOUR half.
Then... in another 10 years or so... well, you get the idea.

It's smart to hang around old guys 'cause they know lotsa stuff...
There are a few benefits of being single again (grin). My living room ranks in there with the Denver Natural History Museum
I will second that! A VERY cool room indeed... Scott, the "Old Lady" in your case, is without a doubt, one very cool Lady. Seems like yall' might have a handle on the kids also!!! I want to video the bear hunt. Buy the equipment, & I will go along.

Cheap things are not good, good things are not cheap.
My wife tried to pull that B...S... too. When we got married, she said I was allowed 1 "DEAD ANIMAL" in the house. I said you bet, so when are you throwing out your other 8 house plants. Marriage is a partnership, not a DICTATORSHIP!! Don't back down, if your proud of the bear you shot, then display it with pride. If she can't handle it, maybe its time for her to find a new home for her momentos. Oh yeah, nice bear by the way; Kind of lost it there for a minute there.
An update, the bear is on the bedroom wall, the wife is happy. In the lower mainland this is probabley a better place for it as there are just way to many tree huggers, every one that came to the house wanted an explanation as to why I shot (murdered) the bear, . this was a compremise we worked out after I renovated the kitchen without discussing it. If you can't convince them, confuse them.
Glad to hear it. Hey I hope its not too late, but if your thinking of using the rug as a bedspread one night to welcome it into the house , remember the coloring that the taxi's use to blend the belly leather into the fur comes off onto your skin. I was warned of this from a buddy that found out the hard way. And I thought I was the only one that thought about doing that.
