71, tomorrow.

Have gotten 2 6x6's and two cows, all while I was in my 60's. All one shot kills with either a 35 Whelen or a 338-06.

Had polio as a child, with both legs paralyzed. Got better.

Elk hunting is so much fun, it keeps me young.

Thank you Ron.

I have decieded to redirect some money I was planing on spending on guns this year towards my first elk hunt. Some good folks here have put me intouch with a couple of differetn outfitters and long story short I can get a very nice cow hunt for around $1500 total trip and take the wife along for a little getaway. Very excited about it, I've dreamed of elk hunting for a very long time and I plan to use this hunt to get my feet wet and maybe the next year move up to more of a do it yourself hunt.

Wow, I really hope to be hunting that strong in my 70s! My grandpa is in his mid 70s and very limited to what amount of hunting he can do, so thankful I got a good hunt in with him this year. Its getting to where every season I start to wonder if it will be his last...

Well let see, I'm 50 almost 51 and after 30+ years of running I'm still in fairly good shape. No major injuries except for a stiff back that sometimes lets loose for a few days. Back east tally equals 5 buck from PA. Since I moved west 15 years ago the tally is 5 mule deer and one 5X5 bull elk.

Well, if this thread runs two more weeks, I will have to update my post: I will then be 68. Never thought that I would live this long--may have to actually start making some plans...

redtop,

That is a downright impressive performance right there. Congratulations.

I am 51 (going on 81). I had three knee surgeries just last year, on the same knee. I've had 14 orthopedic surgeries, including total replacement of both knees and one hip. Others include multiple reconstructive surgeries on both shoulders, and carpal tunnel release on one wrist. Now I need surgery on my right foot and ankle as it causes me great pain all the time. The problem is I wouldn't be able to put any weight on it for 6 months after the surgery, and I don't know if my job will still be there when I return. I have a pretty fair idea of what the apostle Paul experienced with his "thorn in the flesh" that caused him constant sorrow.

Thats funny...I have some "youth" tags in my photo albums from 1980...Montana deer and elk were $2.00 each...same price as the bird license!

I'm 60 years young. I don't hunt as hard as I did years ago, but I still get a good work out every season, and game.

Pat, my first no residence license was in 1975 in Idaho.
$192.00 it included anelk, deer, bear, and small game.
Bought it over the counter.

Well, it did and Happy Birthday. Good luck with making those plans. smile

I'm pushing 67 and have had both knees replaced also. I'm pretty much a gentleman elk hunter these days and one will have to be pretty convenient for me to pull the trigger. wink
