Nice Rifle, especially the loads, those have to hit hard and get the message across on impact!
Could you give me a link and some details on the Dura-Coat?

I like the rifle ALOT!
How long is your bbl? That's seems quite abit faster than any other 250PT load I've seen published. (Not tryin to rain on your parade, just curious as a .338 WIn is the only big game rifle I own)

Thank you for the replys.....I have found the 338 to be a total utility tool. This rifle shoots everything under moa from 180s to 250s. This is an out of the box rifle, no work done to it.
It does have some buck to it and it does hurt shooting the 250s off the bench so needless to say I don't shoot it a whole lot. I found a 180 load that shoots POI with the 250s so that helps with offhand practice as well.
Magnum61; I apologize, I dont have a URL link for Lauer Dura Coat at this time. I do buy it from them and apply it myself. I made an oven from a propane tank and heat it up to 350 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes for application. I really like Dura Coat over the other coatings as it is a true coating and not a lubricant like teflon or KG.
Pointer; Good question, I have a 24" barrel and would not want it any longer. I have debated on wither to cut off another 2" off of it as I don't think I would lose that much velocity to make a difference. I think the rifle may balance just a hair better and function quicker for "pass shooting" in the thick of which 70% of my hunting take place.
In regards to the speed of the 250's, well, I've been dabated on it in the past here. I started at 76 grains and worked up without any classic signs and my Norma brass just keeps up with the load just fine. Six loadings (using a slow lot of RL25) and still going. It works for me. If I thought I was over 65K I would back off.

Well if you could bring that group a little tighter you might have a decent rifle for elk <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.

mine shoots the 200, 225 and 250 hornadys, as well as 210 partitons pretty similar to that but i use R19, may have to try the 25 always figured it great for my 7mmRUM but a bit slow for my .338

I use N160 for the 225s and 760 for the 180s.
I've had a difficult time finding a good load for some 210 TSX's. Best I can come up with is a load just under 2"
Anybody here have a favorite powder or combo for the 210 TSX?
Thanks

Thanks for not taking offense. Mine's a box stock Ruger MKII SS/Lam with the 24" bbl. So far nothing but 200gr BTs have been down the tube, but I've not hunted anything larger than cow elk, for which the bullet was more than adequate! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> If I can get them to shoot, I'm planning on trying the 210gr Partitions or XXX this year. I too have contemplated cropping 2" off the bbl, but this rifle has quite a bit of sentimental value. If do decide to do that I'm going to change out stock with a High Tech to get closer to the weight of yours. It got pretty heavy on day three in WY last year.

I love 200 BTs as mine shoots them just as well as my 250 NPs with a whole lot less recoil. I have load that churns out just 2,800 fps with IMR 4064 and for a 338 that is a pleasent load on the shoulder. I'm tempted to use them as I understand them to be very good game bullet. I think this would be a very good Black Bear load. I could speed them up a bit and not feel robbed if I used them instead of the 210 NP on elk. The only reason I would add speed is to give me some more distance for those cross drainage shots.

I've used the 200gr BT on one cow elk and one doe pronghorn. In both cases the bullet was more than up to the task. I'll run with it this year unless I get a chance to have a bull tag, then I want something with more (?) penetration as I don't want to have to pass on a raking shot on a bull.
I'd guess that 4064 load would be about perfect on deer/lopes! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
