I have an XCR II in 7 Mag that is a delight to carry, it weighs 7.99 lbs with a Leupold VX III 3.5-10x40 scope, Talley lightweights and a Butler creek mountain sling, I'm thinking I would like to have another XCR II in a long action standard caliber (30.06, .270 Win or .280 Rem) but if I can't realize any weight savings by going with a standard cartridge I feel I'd be foolish not to buy another ballistically superior 7 mag, My question is do the Magnum XCR II's have a heavier receiver or maybe a magnum contour barrel that would make them slightly heavier than XCR II's in standard long action calibers? The Remington catalog specs chart is once again useless but I know some guy's out there have both standard and magnum caliber XCR II's and I would love to know the actual weight difference in these rifles if any...............Thanks Hillbilly.
