I was perusing the new paperback Hornady yearly reloading guide today and I saw where the new IMR 8208 XBR powder showed the highest velocity with 32 grain bullets in the 204 Ruger.
I was wondering if anyone has had experiences pro or con with the 32 grainers and this new powder?
Any insight would be appreciated - I am not a hot-rodder when it comes to reloading but if one can "safely" attain higher velocities then that makes for flatter trajectories and more "hits" afield.
The IMR 8208 XBR powder is new into my local shop and it is $2.50 a pound more pricey than the pricey powder I am now using in my 204's.
Any comments or insights would be appreciated in my evaluation of this new powder for my uses.

I tried it with 45 gr. bullets in my 204 Ruger and it didn't work as well as what I was already using; it might be different with lighter bullets. In fact, I think it would be worth a try.

I do use that powder in a 270 Winchester with 130 gr. bullets with excellet recults. It meters VERY well.

VG, 8208 has been pretty comparable in velocity to H335 with both the 32 and 40vmax. I can get about 4,050 fps with the 32 without going overmax. That is in a Savage bolt with 22" barrel. Have shot some groups as low as .161 with 28g. At 28.5g I get about 4,000 fps and at 29 about 4,050. That range shoots consistently in the .4's for me. As I said, very similar to H335 in accuracy and velocity without the temp sensitivity.

With the 40vmax, I get about 3,720 fps with 8208 (27.6g) and 3,735 with H335 (26.8g). Both will shoot about .5 moa for me at that velocity.

I gave it a try this past summer and was not as good as RE10X with 32 Sierra's. But, I was cramped for time. When the weather warms up, I'm planning on more extensive trials. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed with the accuracy.

Guys: Thank you all for your input!
Maybe I will just save my time and effort AND money and stick with what I have achieved so far with my 204's.
I am frankly rather happy with the 32 grain Sierra BlitzKings terminal performance and the accuracy I get with them and with the powders I am using (H 4895 and Varget) now.
Thanks again
