Stockys has both...is the HS Precision worth the extra $60.00 or so dollars? Would you go for the bedding block in the B&C or save weight by not having it? Do the ADL versions offer enough (or any) weight savings over the BDL versions. I'm thinking of going with the OD with black spider webs. Sort of a faux Walmart ADL overweight Mountain Rifle thing.

oh yeah, spend the extra money.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

You should buy both and write a report. You could enlighten the rest of us.

I may very well do that. Sand with black splatter on one. OD with black splatter on the other.

I don't like plastic stocks. I've owned both McMillian & B&C.
Fiberglass is a form of plastic. I suppose you will bed it too: A bedded rifle is a repaired rifle. If there wasn't something wrong with it, it wouldn't need bedding. Bedding =s an attempt to rememdy poor quality.

Those quotes are from Swampy's other personality. You can't expect him to agree with himself.

As I remember, neither B&C nor McM products come in a Green box. Swamp is getting off the reservation, again. He'd better be careful, his image to maintain...

Don't think he mentioned McM. My bad. Put HS in the list of non-green products...

All are used by Big Green. Can anyone answer the questions?

after having owned and hunted with 5-6 hs stocks, i'd say they are worth the extra 60.00. if i were in your shoes, i'd go with the hs and not look back. others may differ.

Do you consider the stocks that come with the bedding block "fixed" from the factory.
I would hate to buy a stock that has already needed a repair.

Swamp,
I like your Jeff Cooper quote. You're definitely turning up the heat on the '06. BTW, I have and like '06's. Guess you parked ole Jack O'C for now...

I have personal experience with the McM and the B&C, not the HS. I would think quality and price correlate pretty well. McM is the best, IMHO, and I would think HS was probably next, followed closely by B&C. The B&C Medalist is pretty nice, easy to work with and fairly well made. I glass all mine and I don't think a gun, properly bedded will shoot any different in any of the three.

I had a McM on my .308 but I didn't like the looks of it very much. I think I'm going to get the HS for my .30-06, and the B&C for my .270 spare rifle.

There's plastic and there's plastic. When I think plastic, I think of an injection molded, low end stock. These newer high tech fiberglass, kevlar, carbon, etc. stocks with aluminum bedding pillars, skeletons, are a whole different proposition. Wood is pretty, but these things are the way to go for heavy use. Just a better mouse trap, so to speak.
