How far would you shoot an elk with a 270? Bout 10 yds.....thats about as far as they are good for....maybe 12 yds if I get a wild hair and want to really really stretch it out.

As far as the bullet retains 1500 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. Bullets with 1499 foot-pounds bounce off elk, as everybody east of the Mississippi knows. The 'bounce-off' distance with the 270 WSM is a bit further downrange......although, here in Colorado, the 'bounce-off' energy threshold is a bit lower, as elk have been known to be killed with muzzleloaders, etc. at less than 1000 foot-pounds

very true! took the Ti 270 out today and almost wrapped it around a tree is shot sooooo poorly! new tsx load with 140's.... then i shot a new load with 140 Hornady's and viola! 1.2"! it's a start! had this thing shooting great with 130TSX's then all of a sudden it just stopped? from consistent .5-.75" to 2-4".... Can't know why? scrubbed the tube bare and started over and same same? so figured i'd try the 140's....

But I mean you know all that stuff...... Are you using R22? With Fed 215's? Give it a try, if not......
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

i thought lot too but i checked and all the ones i have are the same lot #.
Full length bedded, trigger tweaked, RL22 Kiss, CCI... worked great then not? and i don't mean one range trip or two... We're talking almost 4 years worth of consistency! and then it stopped? seems to be showing promise with the 140 Hornady's and i have some NBT's to try too..
