Proves you're an idiot. Game over.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

So what size tires do you run? Any one with as much 4x4 experience as you would know that.

Blackheart, have you ever thought about upgrading to a Suzuki Samurai? That would be the ultimate.

If you often deal with deep mud, you will need a mud specific tire. If only occasionally, then an all terrain will suit you better. Right now IMHO, the two best AT tires are the Hankook RF-10, and the Good Year Dynatrac. The Hankook will cost a bit less, and will have a quieter ride. The Dynatracs are a bit more aggressive, and will be the next tires I put on my Landcruiser. Which is actually built like a tank.

Those things are AWESOME Right after I went through the "hot tub" in Moab, the pic that you can see everything on my truck from the top, a little Zuki followed me and endoed going in We had to winch him out upside down. There was barely enough room for my truck in the bottom before starting back up the other side.

You've left no doubt that you are. I bet your poodle could kick all our dog's asses too, combined. Are you a mall cop by any chance? I heard the Explorer Sports are pretty popular with that group.

Boy, this thread sure took a right turn and headed out into oblivion.... but back on topic...lots of rigs around here spend a lot of time on forest service roads, and really put the tires thru Heck and Back with tons of gravel, and mud etc.. A lot of tire brands are available.. but for serious commercial back country rigs, you sure see Toyo's HIGHLY dominant... this particular one here: I run BF Goodrich Commercial T/As on my 4 Runner, but I am going to put a set of these Toyos on the extra rims I have for it.... on Toyota's with 16 inch rims, I have seen several different rigs that have supposedly gotten 100K on these tires.. I have like 70,000 on my Goodrich Commercial T/As and they have plenty of tread left.. For abuse, the Toyo Tires seem to hold up the best according to many around here...

A lot of 4 wheelers run those tires, great traction on rocks sand and mud, I just prefer BFGs, kind of like a Ford/chebby debate

I run BFG MT now,and they work ok,wear well and are pretty quiet.I've run Buckshot mudders before. They work well in the mud, especially the belted ones. They don't wear very well, ride badly and ballance very badly. The best I've ever had in the mud were the old co-op grip spur. They did not wear well, ride well or ballance well, but they really worked in the mud.None of your radial mud tires really work great in the mud because they don't clean, they get clogged up.All of my expierence has been in mud, rocks are another ballgame. I have just under 70k on a set of 35x12.50 toyo mt's on my f350 diesel and will replace them with the same when by summers end. Don't know that anyone can ask for anymore then 70k out of a mud tire on a modded 1 ton diesel.

Listen up smarta$$. I've been all over Montana from the crow reservation to the Flathead reservation, Billings to Missoula up along flathead lake to Glacier. You ain't got mud there compared to what we have here in the East. All I saw was gravel, sand and rock everywhere I looked out there. Here we have predominantly clay soil and we we get waaaay more rain than Montana. Not only that but it takes forever to dry out here after a rain since humidity runs 90% most of the spring/summer. You all can choose to remain ignorant of what can be done with an Explorer or you could go take a look around explorerforums or youtube and educate yourselves. It's up to you. I really don't care but ignorant you are.
Smart Ass am I. That's interesting since I was going only by what you said. Most of the roads in the NE part of the state I travel on are dirt when dry and deep mud when wet. The farthest east I have spent any time is MN and everything I have experienced in MN would not require any kind of mud tire, but then I never went looking for it. I did work with several fellas from Upper NY and they said it is comical for people to have big tires there because everything is paved. I don't know first hand however and that was years ago.

These are Remingtons with 25k miles. They are a good choice in an economical mud tire. I've owned all kind and IMO Super Swampers perform best, Cooper M/T's last the longest and these are a good value. Tire shops can all get them, but don't like selling them because they're so cheap. They look like this new...

in arizona i have everything from desert/sand/cactus/rocks/ to deep mud up north. I have used a variety of tires through the years. On my diesel it has been from the beginning goodrich mudders. On my WWII jeeps a different tire, and on the land cruiser buckhorn mudders. Our particular problem is if the tire will clean itself, and if it has stiff sidewalls to avoid rock cuts.

About the same as any really aggressive tire, a little loud and need to be rotated on a regular basis. They are actually Dunlops. Great in the mud, which is what we have here. Here's a little info... http://www.tire-information-world.com/remington-tires.html
