I had a few M70's with Boss's on them. I found them to be useful. They changed my reloading protocol. With the boss, I would find the powder that gave me the highest velocity without pressure signs, and then tune it for that load. It was reasonably successful.

The first boss I purchased, was on a 30-06 with the synthetic fwt stock. I also had a Model 6 Remington pump in '06, and had several hundred rounds of several bullet weights loaded up for it. I took a hundred of the worst shooting load for the pump, about 1.5-1.75", and took the M70 to the range. After sight in and 60 rounds later, it was shooting clover leafs. I was very satisfied with the performance.

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

I had an Abolt in 300 win with a BOSS and it was very accurate. I then had a machinist buddy of mine turn down the BOSS on his lathe so that it was barrel contour and just as long as the threads,in other words a cap. Looking at it you had to look close to see that there was anything there at all. Result, it still shot lights out with the same load as before. Sold it to my nephew and he says he is keeping it because of the great accuracy. So, accurate barrel? Yes, and the BOSS made no difference. I had one other, a 7mm08 Browning that was a 2 inch gun no matter what I did. It's gone, too and there will be no more. Guy brought one into the shop last week, told him I wasn't interested. Said he had $1200 in it with the buckmaster scope on it with a bipod. I told him it was worth maybe half that, and that would be retail price. Used Brownings don't fly off the shelf here. I tried to get $450 for an A-bolt in 7wsm, SS, no BOSS with Talley Lightweights, no takers, so I took it home.

Dial it down to 000 and shoot away. Or, cut that ugly piece of metal off and recrown..I had one and didn't have the time or patience for it.
