So, one quarter hung. Top is still just tacked, I need to spool up some .024 wire for this seam. here's a look at what that quarter skin seam looks like from inside the trunk. Gonna be really easy to hide that seam.
Something clever here.

If you only knew how many trial fits, mark and trim, grind, dolly... drill... oh god I'm wrung out!
It doesn't happen fast.
But I'm really happy with the quarter.

Ha, thanks guys. But crate hemi? No. If I was starting with something missing the engine or something that had the wrong engine but this engine has the VIN stamped on it. I better stick with the 383.

Very nice work Dave. Good job on the tooth pull as well. I'm suprised that Eaner (sp?) Wiener dog produced enough tourque to get er done!

R. That wiener dog has a short stroke, so he gets it done with RPM.

Wiener Dog (mine) is an exact twin to Eaner Dog. He's 14, and just now starting to break down a bit. Changed his diet, and he is getting some pep back. But yes, they do get it done with RPM!

Your skills are right up there with the best restorers Dave. You got that right. Dave, is the flange nesissary or does it make for better fit/welds? I've never seen that done.

I don't know if it's better Tom, it's kind of like a doc prescribing medicine, you pick what seems best for each individual situation.
This is just what seemed best for this weld seam.
I contemplated a regular..... pause for regret... butt weld.
But this helps with locating and it's a good backer for a weld, just seemed right.
