ahh, nice that he is swimming with da fishes.

You guys got me going about the concrete, so I looked up an estimate I had last year for sidewalk, patio, and apron. I was going to put in a 22' by 46' apron in front of the garage. That is 1012 sq feet and the estimate is $3135 or $3.10 per sq foot. I am hoping a bigger pour comes in a whisker cheaper on a sq footage basis. The companies I am using have been around a long time and are viewed as extremely high quality contractors in the area....so that really had me worried about the price after you guys jerked me around! eek

When I get the bids, I will let you know if I dont pass out at the sight of them.

Send those guys up to me when they are done at your house, that's .... crazy cheap.

I don't think I could have got it done for that price 15 years ago.

Wasn't jerking you around dude... I do this for a living. I didn't tell you it WAS going to be $10/sq.ft, I said don't be surprised if it is. Going by $8/sq.ft, which is in the high middle for prices, it'll be around $15K for the 156'x12' driveway.

If $3.10/sqft is what you get concrete for, I'll have him do my driveway ASAP. That is nearly a 1/3 of what the going rate is around here.

You can't do it for that by yourself!

sure you could do it for that by yerself. A yard of concrete will do 81 square feet if 4 inches thick. So material costs at $120 per yard are $1.50 per sq foot. Where are all the costs other than the actual concrete? some 2X4s and renting a float? that doesnt come to thousands of dollars. I have a call in to a contractor that has poured a ton of concrete for me all over the country in the past for work, I wanna see what he says.

Heck, colored, stamped concrete was only about $8 or $9 per sq foot for me last year. Something is goofy here.... confused

Poetic justice.

What was your final estimate?

Nothing is goofy if you can get it for that price. Heck, it's great if you can get it for that price.

Well everybody we brought home my POS yesterday. Here are a few pictures.

[Linked Image]

Is Dave 9 feet tall or could my POS be sunk into the ground alittle? Hmmm...

Note the nice tailgate. grin

It runs but the ignition switch is bad so when you let off the starter, it dies. Sounds just like I remember it sounding. RWS thinks we should drive her around just the way she is, I think maybe we should get some better tires first. I did suggest to Dave that maybe we should buy a farm now too, seems appropriate doesn't it? LOL.

I like that truck. That roof dent is going to stink though. A dent in almost exactly the same spot is a big part of why I didn't switch cabs on my 78.

Looks good, and I agree with RWS. Run like it is for now.

Buying a farm might be cheap compared to a bottom up restoration. grin

May 3rd and we're getting snow flurries, yuck! mad

Met with a building supply designer yesterday and picked out our new siding color. Also got to see the windows we're going to go with. We still have to finalize the interior/exterior window color. Window company is sending us larger color samples. This is worse than buying a car. Didn't know there were so many options for windows.

Our contractor is coming over Thursday to take the final measurements.

The look on 9-foot tall Dave is priceless. That look speaks volumes to me. The fact that it made it onto to the trailer after that look must mean he is quite fond of you Pam!

Beautiful here today too. Sunny, calm and 60. And here I sit at the confuser mad.

Big news out of my camp today! Ready for it? Sitting down? I am the first person in the house to have a Facebook page cool. I have no clue why or even how it works, but I now have one. Did it yesterday. Still waiting for all the fun to start.... confused
