The package came in today. 2 weeks from order to delivery was outstanding.
I took a bit of time and set the tipi up three times; each was easy and I'd have been happy sleeping in any of them. I'm sure that I'll get better at it. The stove... That was a bit more challenging, the chimney in particular. But up it went and before I knew it several hours had gone by with friends around it.
I'm happy. Thanks- M

I have an 8 man on order with large stove, and I'm hoping it shows by October 1st. I just drew the first week of October to hunt our bow hunting club (Land-O-Lakes Bowmen, and this would be a great way to break it in.
I'll try anything, as long as it's legal...and has a hint of fun to it.

Hi We have a new shelter in the works that we have been working with ED T on. I'm sure some of you are aware of. Here is a bit of a run down of the details. Ed T's backcountry shelter I also would like to remind you that you can enter in a drawing to win a wood stove by signing up for our mailer or doing a "Like" of our facebook page. Details are located here Win a titanium wood stove In addition, we have some special deals on slightly used, demo, or blemished gear that are going to trickle out through facebook and the mailer. This will likely happen this winter. We will not announce the deals elsewhere.

Any idea on pricing and release date on the backcountry shelter? Also, do you make a CF pole that would work with a golite SL5 and how much weight it might save?

The shelter should be shipping in 3 weeks , pricing is $479, includes sod skirt. I can make a CF pole for use with your SL5 might save 6 - 8 ounces, depending on the pole you use.
8 persons are ready to ship / shipping , we are just buttoning up the accessories, stoves etc that go with them.

Kevin,
Any way to make the BCS deal retroactive to orders already placed but awaiting fulfillment? I'm order #302.

Also as a reminder, remember we have an outlet store where we sell some gently used items.
For instance, there is an 8 man and a 4 man tipi (with liner) available now.

Awesome product you have Kevin. I couldn't be any happier with my 8 man, liner and stove.

Yes at some point. The updated pole is likely to be an option here shortly.
The original pole is a tad lighter, but the updated one packs smaller and will be able to be used as a hiking staff as well.
It's likely to be a complete option (updated pole plus hiking staff segment ).
We are almost there on the hiking staff portion.

Is the new pole gonna be as stout and as adjustable as a BD flicklock?? How small will it collapse to? Never intended to use my carbon pole as a center pole for the BCS and just rock BD poles.

1" adjustment, uses a telescoping pin just like the center pole you have. It will collapse to 2 sections, about 22" long (the whole center pole). You can put in a anodized aluminum tip and a hand strap to make it a hiking staff. I have tested the hiking staff on a big 'ole 13k talus heap and did not have any problems. I've also done a lot of other hiking with it. It's very sturdy, but a bit noisier and slightly unconventional in comparison to standard hiking poles. It is similar to the Big Stick hiking staff in concept, but is totally based of our center pole. It does do the job though, and really when used in comparison with a BD pole I did not feel the BD performed any better. Note I seldom use hiking poles on purpose, except in snow.
The basic thought process behind it was - Often times people use a trekking pole to get dual usage , but they often compromise the center pole. (Believe me , I spent part of a night holding my BD poles together, when a fierce storm came in and I was camped around 12,500. I regretted taking trekking poles that time, thinking if I had the center pole, which was lighter than the trekking poles, I know it would have been solid). So why not go the other way around. Our pole was lighter than any aluminum poles, close to the weight of the more expensive carbon poles, but had better adjustability. The compromise is , it's slightly unconventional, but very functional. It also compacts just as small if not smaller, which for trail running and ultra's is nice ( I did some trail running as a test as well).
Make sense ? If not, we will do some more detailed stuff on it in the coming weeks as we get ready to offer the adaptation.

I'm not sure, we are gradually reducing the amount of specials. I have a pretty food feeling what specials will be the first couple months of 2012, and I don't think BCS is one of them.
