I'm glad to see someone besides me is culling out those huge old does..... Ingwe, are those considered big deer in the town of Dinkdom Montana? Sounds like too much for a 7X57... I agree, that size game is really pushing it with a 7x57. He should get 6.5x55 or at he least a .275 Rigby...
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Fryin' pan deer, one per pan and tasty.
Have killed my share with a 100gr Btip, some at a tad beyond 400 yards. Eventually swore off it for baldies. Last one tried to outrun the Btip at about a hundred yards, but lost.
54grs of IMR 4831. Has worked well in every 25-06 I've ever owned.
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.

Lemme see: My wife and I have used the following bullets either in the .25-06, or at .25-06 muzzle velocities, to take lots of pronghorns (and a few similar-sized animals, whether Ingwe-does or whatever) at ranges out to 400 yards:
100 Barnes XBT, TSX and Tipped TSX 100 and 117 Hornady Interlock 100, 115 and 120 Nosler Partition 100 and 115 Nosler Ballistic Tip 115 Berger VLD 117 Sierra GameKing 120 Remington Core-Lokt
Almost every time, when the bullets hit the right place (which was most of the time) the animal died quickly. From this I have concluded that there aren't any magic bullets.
The powders used ranged from old standbys (IMR4350 and H4831)to newbies (Ramshot Hunter and Magnum). Some were even factory loads, with who-knows-what powder. From this I have concluded that a lot of powders go bang adequately.
The only exception to all of the above was a Wyoming buck my wife shot with the 120-grain Nosler Partition. The bullet landed right behind the "front" shoulder, and blood started spurting out of his ribs in a 1" wide stream. He continued to follow a doe, his nose in her butt, until another bullet in pretty much the same place caused the buck to lie down. Even then he feebly tried to horn Eileen when she walked up to him. From this I have concluded that with pronghorn almost anything is possible.

Hey, our group on the Milk River culled several "Ingwe-does" last October. Though some of the people involved expressed regret when theirs had little bitty balls.

Yeah...I got one of those two years ago up in that Hi-line country too.... Still tasted good though.... Funny! Milk alfalfa dinks are alright but I would say it's fair knowledge that they don't hold a candle to the dinks that drink out of the Missouri. Always thought the Milk deer had sort of a muddy/catfishy taste from drinkin' that nasty water all the time. That probably also explains why people from da Point are generally much better looking and more intelligent that say someone from Glasgow(or Havre)....grin

Hey, Nashua is a nice little town. Used to stop and gas up and buy a 6-pack of Pepsi there back in the 70's, on the way to outstanding adventures on and around the Big Lake....
