Imr 4350 @ 54 gr / 130 gr Rem. core-loc. is a tough load. I also found sierra 130 gr very good too. Also, any mild load will still slam a deer down too. Used 110 gr Hornady hollows/ sierra 90gr for target with very good results.

Never tried 150 gr bullets in any of mine, but all of them seem to prefer H4831sc over any other powder - and shoot best within a grain or so of max.

Hornady 130gr SP,Winchester 130gr PP and Speer 150gr Deep Curl all shoot real well in my 270.Mine likes flat based bullets better than boattails.

The 130 gr. Remington Core Lokts are what have shot the best in my Encore. Pictured is a 200 yard group. That particular load accounted for 3 of the 6 deer I shot last year the ranges being from 145 to 280 yards. These are soybean and corn fed full sized Ohio deer unlike the miniature ones I've seen down south. Two were DRT with neck shots and the one I took at a bit over 200 yards went maybe 8 feet.

i think the 270 is at its best with a good 140grn bullet, hornady 140grn interlok, seirra btsp. i'm well over 200 deer kills with these bullets. i've also knocked a few black bear down with it. from 0-450yards its a great caliber.

Probably the two most consistently accurate C & C's I've shot are the 130 Sierra Pro Hunter and 130 Hornady SP (Interlock)in 3 M700's. I've not got anything close to them with the Speer 130 HC and the BT, though I have got them to group well enough to hunt. The 130 Sierra Gameking shot very well in my M70, but it's relatively new and I haven"t worked with that as much as the M700s.

130 Nosler Ballistic tips are hard to beat for price/accuracy. I've had good luck with Sierra 130 Pro Hunter and 140 Gamekings.
My favorite load now is 130 Nosler Accubond with a max load of IMR 4831 and CCI200primers. Best accuracy and on game performance of any 270 load I've ever used. RL19 is my other go to powder for 270.

I just aquired a 270 and am looking to start reloading it once I aquire dies. I am wondering if there is any "consensus" on what 2 different bullets will "most likely" shoot well. I am not interested in "premium" bonded or monometal bullets. Just run of the mill cup and cores. What 2 would be your first choices for small to medium southern white tail deer. Thank you. RBH Been shooting 270's for 40 years. H4831 and 270's go together like, well, mother and apple pie...... I'm a fan of 150's, and can generally make Noz BT's and Sierra Bt's work very well. But when I'm packing a 270--which is most of the time--Partitions are the bullet of choice.

When I get a new 270 the first things I feed it are 130 Sierra FB and H4831,and RL22....generally I wind up at about 60 gr of each.
Next up are 130 Nosler Partitions with the same powders.
Unless the rifle is ill, I rarely ever have to look beyond these combo's and bullets.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I have yet to find a .270 that will not shoot sub moa with 130 Hornady Spire Points backed by a good dose of H-4831.

I'm not a super experienced reloader, but I've had very good, sometimes great, accuracy with 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips as well as Sierra GameKings backed by H4831.

RatherBHuntin: First I would try the wonderful Nosler 130 grain Ballistic Tips - then secondly I would try the wonderful Nosler 130 grain Ballistic Tips! In other words - MAKE your Rifle shoot these superb bullets. They have performed so splendidly for me on Antelope, Mule Deer and Whitetailed Deer that I doubt I will ever "try" another bullet in my 270 Antelope/Deer Rifle. These Nosler 130 grain Ballistic Tips fly fast, flat, accurately and are devastatingly lethal the aforementioned game. Good luck to you. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Sounds like I have a pretty good concensus building for a starting point. Looks like I can't go wrong by starting with 130gr. ballistic tips, 130gr hornady spire points or Sierra 130 gameking or pro hunters on top of some H4831.

I say look no further than the 130 TSX. Hogs DRT for me. Never used it on deer before I sold the rifle, but I hope to get into another one cheap some day. Had more confidence with that rifle with that bullet than any other to this day.

Try a box of Hornady 140 spbt. Great accuracy in my rifle, and you can't beat the price. Kills things dead in the 270win.

A few things IME, is I've generally gotten better accuracy with the Sierra PH's vs the GK's. And I've also gotten better results with RL22, but YMMV. Between those powders and bullets, you should have no trouble getting some good loads worked up.

I would start off with a Sierra bullet, then go to the Hornady bullet, both being 130 grain bullets. Also you can try the Nosler BT bullet! Now after you figure out what that rifle likes, you can go upward to the 150 or 160 grain bullets using the same brands or venture to the TBBB bullet or those Swift A Frames my favorite big game bullet.

My favorite bullets for the 270 are the 140 grain Ballistic Tip, the 140 grain Sierra HP, and the 160 grain SMP Partition..those are my 3 bullets to GoTo for field use.
any Nosler is still a top choice...
the real question tho, is there any really bad bullets out there available for the 270, that have substandard performance?
I don't know of any off the top of my head..
