The mollet-filled inlet I'm referring to, leads to Baffin. I used to do pretty well there at night -- under the lights -- for trout, and off the piers for Reds.
In fact, that's how I wound up fishing the Corpus area - one thing just kinda lead to 'nother, and the next thing you know, I was "hooked."
I much prefer the Gulf, as you have far more species, and of course the chance of something you can't land (or, that can eat you).

No, east of Rivera -- six or seven miles -- there's a pretty nice park/campground. The inlet is a stone's throw from the entrance to it. The mollet have to travel through a narrow channel (under the road's bridge), and it's pretty easy pickins - once you learn to get the cast net to open. >grin<
I'd seen fellas netting there, so bought a net, and went to give it a twirl. I'd been flailing away for quite some time in abject failure - could not begin to get the net to open as I hurled it, time and again. Finally, an older Mexican man (couldn't speak a word of English) took pitty on me, and gave me a lesson. Within a few throws I had the net spiraling wide open, and within a few more, could actually get it in the direction of the water.
Filling a five-gallon bucket with bait became a ten-minute job after that. Sure seems impossible to keep mollet alive (even in a minnow bucket), but the fish don't seem to care either.
sounds like catching the stupid salmon out of the tribs of Lake Erie. Cast your "nylon lure " and pull them in. Just make sure you have a look out for LEO's.

Erie, I've never fished, but have spent many hours on Michigan, and Superior -- and their tributaries -- pursuing salmon. The fall spawning runs of course are synomomous with "snagging" (now illegal in WI), and yeah - they get pretty thick.
Mollet are bait fish (best ones are under 6" in length).
my problem casting a net is i have a hard time getting a good spin on it since my right ankle don't bend. there will a couple of guys who can really throw a net that will be along with us. I've seen them take a net on the pier throw it over and have it spin almost hover at the end of the rope till their ready to drop on a school of fish.

Aye, I got pretty good - with very little body twist. The Mexican fella that took pitty on me showed me how to hold the darn thing. All that's required then is a flip of the arms/wrists - but my net isn't all that big either.
It's a learned skill - lookin' forward to seeing your buddies techniques!
I'll have a net, and I can probably bring a box of big mullet. We have a shrimp processing plant about 5 blocks from here, where you can drop your net in the exhaust and catch more than you can lift. That will depend if they are processing when it's time to try.

Apologies for the repeated request, but now that we're only six days out, is there a final tally/number of attendees I can get, please? I need to know so I can make sure I bring the right number of delicious marine scavengers.
For those it may affect I am told by the office at PINS that the big parking lot at the visitor center is reasonably secure for leaving cars parked for a few nights.
Turns out the Park Police Office is adjacent, they just request that you give 'em notice of who you are and how long the vehicle will sit.
