Dave, I believe I stayed in that exact location the last time I was in the boundry waters. I will have to look through my pics.

It has been over 10 years since I have been to the boundry waters, and every year I think about it. My parents have a cabin just north of Virginia, MN that we frequent now.

Hoping to get back there soon. Good luck!

Yep, right out my back door and I've haven't made it this spring yet. The black flies are mellowing out, but the skeeters are in fullforce if it's warm. Last night we had 36 degrees which helps.
Enjoy!

Looks like paradise cool

Congrats on getting up there while the birds are still singing cool

I expect too the place gets more crowed in July and August.

We were just up around Brainerd and I'd say for weather, you can expect about anything this year...like most years I guess only moreso. smile

Nice Dave. Rules - don't forget the myriad of rules.

That aside, it's a spectacular area.

your daughters look like good sports and have been taught to enjoy the outdoors and roughing it.
Your future son-in-laws should worship you as a god for raising your daughters this way.

awesome family pics.
I especially like the "thumbs up" pics.

We pack out more than we carry in as far as litter goes, we always do.

Seems some folks are simply clueless with candy wrappers & misc junk.

Agreed, I've had that total lack of human descency cost me (and everyone else) access to some of the best salmon fishing in Wisconsin. The slobs would leave beer bottles, empty wrappers, and just plain junk on the banks of a bend in the Kewaunee River. Predictably, the area is now closed to foot travel.

Hope you, and yours have good weather, and great times.

Great family shots Dave.... Makes me not want to look at <or make> any of the political threads...

I used to canoe in Northern NY State every Summer... IIRC black fly season didn't end until sometime in July... mosquitoes can be really annoying.... Black flies are like winged demons....

They kept me pinned down inside the tent one night while the brook trout were just frothing the surface of the beaver pond I was camped by... I'd dash out and make a few casts but couldn't set a hook because I was too distracted by being eaten alive...

Swore I'd never go back during black fly season without a full bee keeper suit and preferably a flame thrower...

Hope you and yours have a great trip this year.

bee keeper suit sounds like a good idea lol!!

We usually bring skeeter nets for out heads but that's about it.

grin ISSUE boonie hats (the GREEN or woodland cammy ones) come with a headnet. That is part of why the boonies were so popular. Light long sleeved shirts and some good old Old Time Woodsman, the outdoorsmans cologne work pretty good all around. grin
