The RIA works. It does not have a beavertail anything, it does not have a skelatized anything, the word tactical is not engraved on it's side. It is pretty much just the way JMB designed it. John Browning designed his gun to be made in the RP with substandard materials and rough machine work? I never knew that. As they say, you learn something every day. Right Amigo?

I can't speak of the Rock Island first hand, as I've never owned one. They are essentially the same basic gun as the Charles Daley's of a few years back though. I've never heard anything bad about the Rock Islands. But you haven't heard anything good either. They're junk. They've always been junk. They'll always be junk. There are better choices out there for the same money. A Springfield INC. for $500 from Cabela's? Say it ain't so!!!!! http://www.gunsinternational.com/Springfield-Armory-Model-1911-A1-45-ACP.cfm?gun_id=100189995
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

So your advice is to throw it away and go unarmed?

So your advice is to throw it away and go unarmed? I'd buy a Glock instead.

So I told you what I make. Do I use to RIA to hold up the gun store to buy a Glock? Do I throw away the RIA and go unarmed while I put away then dollars a month to save for a Glock. I am 62. I six years I can get a Glock. Then I can carry again. Besides I shot two Glocks yesterday. I hate Glocks. Don't like the feel.
My point is not everybody can but all the fancy toys. Some of us do what we can. That is just the way it is. I can shoot the RIA today or I can do without. If you were in my shoes, and I hope you never are, what would you do, carry what you have the works flawlessly or do without and not carry at all. The facts are without a miracle I will probably never afford another handgun.

Will be off line for most of the rest of the day. Not giving up on it but a death in the family is taking up my day.

My point is not everybody can but all the fancy toys. And my point has been you don't need to spend a small fortune -- as you keep claiming -- to buy any of these so-called "fancy toys." Good quality 1911s can be had for roughly the same price as the Rock Island Armory junk. It was possible just a few years ago to buy NEW Mil-Spec Springfield INC. 1911s for under $500 and it's still relatively easy to locate a lightly used one for that price today. With that being the case, what again was the "rationale" for buying a Rock Island-branded paperweight?

Cabelas probably only gave em 300 if that, so pay 589.00 decide its junk then sell it to cabelas. How long did it take you to figure that one out? If they are so good, why they getting dumped. I'm assuming you intended to append that little pearl with a question mark. It's likely some deadbeat, broke-ass derelict -- not unlike you -- decided he needed some cash to go play the lottery and sold it. I'm not for sure, though I am quite confident, that used guns still work as designed. You know, load them with live ammunition, aim at a target, pull the trigger, bullet discharges, etc. Sort of like your Airsofts.

I broke in with the 1911 back in the early 1960's my Boy! I shot practical pistol course back in the early 70's too. Those were the days you ran through culverts, jump over water barriers and swung across water barriers with your 1911.
I own several 1911's in Colt, Kimber, Par-Ord, TSP and a Rock Island. So why the holy hell are YOU A-Hole on my thread???
You are a Jerk SOB in my book Boy.....go back to the Ghetto!

I proudly own and shoot a 'like new', 2nd-hand Springfield A-1 GI, 1911. '45'. It is less expensive and refined than the basic Springfield MilSpec 1911 model.
Also own a Colt, Model of 1911, WWI Replica, (un-fired). Beautiful Carbonia blue finish.
I am totally happy and completely '1911' fullfilled.
But I also got most of my "experience via the Internet" as Bricktop wildly dewcries, (often in so many barbed wire words.)
But that does not hinder me from sharing my all-knowing expertize and sage wisdom here or anywhere else ... That's what it's all abought really. So ... ________________________________________ ~ A person's mind, changed against their will, ~ Is of, their opinion still.

it appears that Bricktop is connected in some way to OU College of Engineering. Finally understand why he's such a pissy azz licker.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?
Immersing oneself in progressive lieberalism is no different than bathing in the sewage of Hell.

This pistol retails for $799 and ALL AMERICAN made too. Hats off to RUGER.....Ya!!! Last time I checked, the Kimber Custom II was retailing for around $830 or less...........& made in the USA. No knock on the Ruger, but the Kimber is similar for about the same $$$. MM

Only it has that knucklehead Schwartz safety.
