I put one of the new Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 scopes on this one last year, it looks a little big, but carries as lightly as another Marlin wearing a Leupold 1-4x20 VXII.

I've got a 3x Leupold which is waiting for the right .35 Rem to come along, but the 4x would work just fine too.

I had an older Waver 3X with a P&CH like that on a Marlin .30-30. When aiming in a hurry your eye naturally wants to follow the crosshair and put the intersection of the post and crosshair on the target instead of the very tip of the post as intended especially if you are used to using a standard crosshair. It takes some practice to get used to putting the tip of the post on target. Not an impossible task but something you have to consciously think about and in a fast situation you might forget.

I replaced that 3X on my Marlin .30-30 with a regular ol Leupold 4X and find it works just great.

Jim,

I used to be concerned about that until I realized that the real difference in point of impact in dark timber where I might need a quick shot was negligible.

I thought I saw one of those 3x's in the classified section a day or two ago.

What about a Weaver Classic V 1-3x20? I have heard of several lever guns wearing those on another board.

I'm thinking Leupold 4x compact, or the rimfire version...

I've owned 3 levers in 35 Rem and 1 in 30-30. The best scope that I've used was a T/C Hunter 1.5-5. Short and sweet little scope.

I like the Classic V 1-3x20 also, but a plain old K2.5x20 costs less, is tough as nails, and just plain works just as well IME.....
