It's so ugly it had better work to have any chance of survival in the marketplace.

my guess is that it would work just like the browning/usrac BOSS muzzle brake. you move it back and forth to find the sweet spot. the question is, why would you need it? I could see if for informal matches or target practice but if your rifle is shooting 3" at 100 yards, you probalby need a more permanent fix.

So who's gonna be the first to plop down $19.95 for a rifle rubber? If it don't work yer not out much. Besides, you could always use it for a plunger if the commode gets stopped up. That's what they look like to me but I'll bet if you were to go to the local range the Saturday before your local deer season opens you would probably see a lot of them. Some folks just have to have the latest gadget no matter how silly it looks. DT

Think about the ramifications if it does work. No more careful handloading, glass bedding, expensive custom barrels, etc. Just grab any ol rifle off the rack, slip a commode plunger over the barrel and presto! 1/2 moa. I can see the precision riflesmiths standing in the unemployment line. We must stop this rifle rubber monster toilet plunger abomination now!!!!

I recall reading somewhere(long range hunting?? ) that these work and work well. Regardless of how they look. Its up to folks whether they actually need them or not now. Like everything else out there for sale. Right? Scopes, who needs those fancy new gimmicks.....
At least this one isn't a crazy crock....

I really miss BigStick. He'd have us in stitches by now. We need to save this thread for him until he gets back!

Well, I found one on ebay special for under ten bucks. and bought it for my sako 6ppc light hunter. I use it really to rest the barrel without dinging it, like a portable rifle cushion. It is ugly, it is grotesque, but it does allow me to rest the barrel against the ground, rocks, or in a corner without dinging the fine sako bluing.
As to accuracy, it allowed me to pop rabbits last week offhand at 100+ yards, course who knows if it helped any or not. sure is ugly.
I am looking forward to a range day with and without the rifle rubber, to compare what is normally a .75 rifle without the plunger.
I need to think up a better excuse as to why I bought it?
I dont know what that is, I fell down in a trash pile and the damn thing is just stuck there.
Any other help?
J

Jameister, Did you get any instructions with it? Like do you have to slide it up or down the barrel to find a sweet spot?? Just curious. Like I said at the beginning I know first hand that their archery silencers/dampers work well. Just got carried away with the appearance of the thing. If only they could figure out a way to hide it, like mount it under the barrel in the stock forearm?? Keep us posted on your range test. If you get the results they got on the web site you should have a one-holer! Rick

Jameister, Excuse for buying it? Well you saved almost 50% off MSRP. Thats enough excuse for my wife to buy a bunch of crap she doesn't need. The rabbits offhand at 100 yards was more likely the result of your shooting skill and an already accurate rifle. By the way how much does the thing weigh?

I am guessing it weighs about 2-3 ugly ounces. but it is very soft rubber, kind of like a good b**b feels. once it is on the barrel, it sticks pretty tight. I was going to take it off to weigh, but I used a bit of hoppes or oil to slide it on, and it is pretty well seated.. I placed it where it can be used to cushion against a tree, wall, or on the rocks... less concerned about how dampening locations could vary...

I taped an Inova flashlight to the bbl of my Rem722 300 Savage and the accuracy improved! The Sims gadget probably works. It is more than a "little ugly" though.

After a trip to the range today with my Encore 264 win mag, I may have a toilet plunger on the barrel next time!!!
