If you were to pick one powder for 85 to 100 GR. bullets, what would you chose?

4064 or H 414...
others work well also, but those two are my top choices... for velocity AND accuracy...
4064 may be 100 fps behind slower powders with the 100 grainers..but I'd put its accuracy above many other powders..
RL 15 gets third place honorable mention...

Hard to argue R15, but H4350 gets my vote.
If you're not burning through batteries in your headlamp,...you're doing it wrong.

H4350 would be (and actually is) my choice as well.
Used to use IMR4350 but switched to H when I used up the last 8 pound jug of IMR. Both have given excellent accuracy and velocity with the range of weights noted across several brands and styles in three .243's and a .243AI so far.

Many loads don't completely fill the 243 case. I've found that with 100 grain bullets, old style H4831 gives 2950 FPS and a full case.
Be not weary in well doing.

H414 is a very versatile powder for the the 243, bullets light and heavy. That being said, for anything 85 grains and over I'm curently using H4350 because it's what I have on hand, and it works just fine also.

I always had excellent results with IMR-4350. If I was loading a .243 WIN today (and wasn't sitting on five pounds of IMR-4350) I would try the H-4350 from Hodgdon.

varget has been the most accurate for me, from 60 grain sierras to 100 grain bullets.
nothing wrong with the 4350 siblings though.

Right now I'm using H4895 for 55 gr Ballistic Tips, 75 V-Max and 100 Interlock.
Might try Varget , H 414 or something else soon.

I'll go off the reservation and say Win Supreme 780 for the heavier bullets you are referenceing. Velocity around 3100, accuracy is excellent. Meters like water too, which is always a plus.

for years i loaded either imr4350, for 100s or imr4895, for 85s &90s...
when i decided that 85s and 90s did all that i wanted from the .243 i started experimenting with powders...
didn't notice a nickels differnce between imr4895, RL15, or varget...
even later, i discovered the 70 gr ballistic tip... for that i preferred RL15, and my buddy went to varget for the same bullet...
