Who makes a good 10 MOA base that'll fit an M70, preferably lightweight?

Never tried that. Would elevating the back ring take it out of line with the front ring and put torque on the scope?

The ring inserts are rounded on the outside and sit in rings that have a matching curve. Think of a ball-in-socket arrangement. So they place no stress on the scope tube. They produce offset inserts with the purpose of getting you scope as close to zeroed as possible without using any internal adjustment, but they can also easily be used to add some elevation if you wish.

Great setup, and all I plan on using until something better comes along.

I believe Near Mfg and Ken Farrell both make a 10MOA rail for Win M70's. EGW makes a 20MOA that I believe is made of aluminum, so it would be lighter.

Nylon, not that there's much difference. The inserts closely match the ring finsih and are not unattractive to my eyes. I have NEVER had a scope slip in them and NEVER had a ring mark resulting from their use. The video has a long lead in, but does explain their use pretty well.

Why not a 20moa base? I think EGW make a picatinny AL for a Model 70. Here you go:

20 MOA puts the Summit at the edge of its adjustment range.

For your application I doubt you will do better than Burris dual dovetail Signature rings, preferably with Leupold bases.

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not sure what you mean by "for your application."

Lightish weight. Guess an aluminum one piece base might not weigh that much. But for a sporter I'd prefer two piece.

A seekins aluminum rail weighs 2 oz's , my MP 10 MOA rail in 303 SS weighs just over 4 oz's, slg888 has a truck load of Murphy's rings and rails in titainium so maybe he will shed some light on Ti weights!

I've got a seekins aluminum, but they don't make 10 MOA bases for the 70.
