I cannot talk about the hawkeyes but I still have my first rifle which is a short action tang safety Ruger M77 chambered for 6mm Rem. The 6mm rem parent case is the 7 x 57 so there is one example of the 7 x 57 length case placed into a short action Ruger.

I also have a long action Ruger tang safety and it is longer than the 6mm rem action by approx 1/2".

Ruger chambers 257Rs in long actions. No logic to me.

The COAL for the 6mm is 2.750

The COAL for the 257R is 2.775

The COAL for the 7x57 is 3.071

The COAL for the 8x57 is 3.228

Even though the case lengths are the same, projectiles are longer.

Everything you now do is something you have chosen to do. Some people don't want to believe that. But if you're over age twenty-one, your life is what you're making of it. To change your life, you need to change your priorities.
