Some of you may remember my disappointing experience from last year, when I wounded and lost my Dall Sheep ram. Well, I went back this year, and I was bleesed with a beautiful ram! It has been the most intense hunt, physically and emotionaly, I have ever been and I would like to thank those friends, and family, that encouraged me so much to try again this year. Here are some photos of my hunt that cannot reflect the beauty of those mountains, though. Lots of hiking and glassing while Sheep hun'ing. With good weather and in Sheep territory the tent felt like a luxury hotel, and Mountain House would taste like the best of delikatessen. A view like this from the tent made us feel optimistic and motivated. There, in the absolute silence and solitude of those remote mountains we laid our tent that day. We found `our`ram around 8pm and it took us long to put a stalk on him. Finally we could get into shooting position by 12:00 at midnight. The ram was lying down, completely unaware of our prsence. I waited for a few minutes for him to stand up, and put a bullet through his shoulders that dropped him down where he was standing. We took some pictures the best we could. Here is one of them. We finally made it to the sleeping bag by 3:10am. I was so tired I could hardly eat anything, and easily went to sleep and dream there was no roof in the tent and that I could see the stars. (more photos in the next post)

Next day we climbed to the ram again (we had gutted him) took more pictures and did all the skining and butchering and packed him out. Man, was I happy with my ram in the pack! Waiting for the plane to pick us up I took the picture which has everything a Sheep hunter needs to be happy: tent, back pack, rifle, binos, walking stick... and a trophy ram. One last photo hear with the Spanish flag, as a small tribute to my country that I love so much. BBerg

Beautiful ram!
Looks like a great time with nice weather (at least in the pictures).
I think you're the first guy I've ever seen post in the last decade that carried a wood stocked rifle on a sheep hunt!

Dandy ram. Nothing like a disappointment one year to increase the effort and enthusiasm the next. Congratulations.

Thank you all for your kind words.
The rifle is a Blaser K95. A very handy an accurate break open single shot in 7x65R. It's stock is wood, and I guess there is nothing wrong with that.
Scope is a Zeiss 5-15x42, which I set at 8x to take the shot at 201 yds.
Load is a 154gr (10 gramm) DK bullet, which is a soft point bullet with a partition built by RWS, pushed by a slightly compressed load of 7828 and a Fed. 215 magnum primer, for 2,880 fps. It went through both shoulders and was found below the skin on the opposite side.
The ram was 9 1/2 years old and measured 37 7/8" on the longest horn which was only slightly broomed. The other one was more broomed, and adds a lot of character to the trophy. It green scored 153 2/8.
And yes, We had excellent weather all through out the hunt.

I love that ram and that rifle!
Your sharing openly the experience you had in the previous year's hunt shows the strength of your character I think. I am very glad you shared this follow-up - You deserve that great ram.
