If I was building a rifle specifically for using VLD's and the longer 120gr target bullets or TSX/TTSX-style bullets, then I'd go 1:9", but a 10" twist will stabilize 75-115gr bullets just fine, with the exception of the 115gr TSX.

And a 1-9" will shoot all the bullets that shoot out of a 1-10" twist just fine also and leave nothing on the table.

Definitely. Not arguing there. I'm just saying that if one has got a 10" tube, it should work with 75-115gr bullets. If ordering custom, I think it's smart to lean toward the faster end of the twist spectrum. I'd go 9" for sure in a .25.

I have had .250 AI, .25-284, and .257 Wby and all three shot best with bullets less than 100gr, leading me to believe that a 9" twist might not be a bad thing. If I do another .25, I think that's the way I'll go.

So far the 115 VLD has stabilized fine in several of our .25 caliber rifles, in cartridges from the .257 Bob to the .257 Wby., all with 1-10 twists.

Though I haven't tested any of them beyond 600 yards, or in 20 below weather....

I have a Ruger 26" 1B 257 that is 1 in 10. I have no problem with the 80TTSX, 100PSP, 110AB, but it will not group the 100TTSX. I sure wish it would at 3249fps.
