Didn't the cheaper Husky 5000 models have a similar stock to the rifle in question?
dan I have a Husky 5000 made in '63 and it has a schnabel fore end. Yes, the Husky 5000 had a schnable.

It's also one of the best rifles for offhand shooting I've ever held. It just holds so steady. I get the third degree on here about why I don't own left handed rifles but I haven't found a left handed gun that points and holds like my Husky .30-06 with it's 4X Leupy. When your rifle instills this much confidence in you it becomes a moot point which side of the gun the bolt handle is on because chances are you won't need a second shot. I might also mention it is the rifle laying across the buck in my avatar. The picture is too small to really see anything though.

The barrel length indicates is would be a "standard weight" model like a Swedish model 1640 or US model 3000 or 3100. From the pictures it looks like the stock has either been replaced or the forend has been modified. The 1640 model would have a schnable forend while the the 3000 - 3100 would either a black plastic or rosewood forend tip.
