Gentry is a B#$&h to install. The PT&G is much easier. I have 3 with the PT&G and they are nice. Do I need them? I think so as it locks the firing pin and the factory 700 doesn't. Butch Agreed on the installation, but I am not a fan.

I've used the Gentry on two rifle with no function issues at all. I happen to like the Mod.70 style safety, over the years I've grown comfortable with them. Getting the safety off and rifle to my shoulder is something I don't need to think about. So it's for the sake of consistency that I go to the expense and trouble.

Sell the Remmy here in the classifieds and get yourself a Winchester M70. Problem solved.

I believe I handled a 700 back in the early 90s with a 3 position safety. Looked like a custom shop rifle, but Im sure the safety was done after it was purchased.

Sweet Jesus, how do some people manage to go back and forth from shoe laces to slip-on shoes.

Steelhead, I went to slipons after 5 neck and back surgeries. I have 2 titanium rods and 2 plates screwed to my spine. Can't bend over like I used to. Butch
