I bought a #1 from Cocked (Thanks again Cocked) and finally got around to shooting it today. Part of the wait was to get a NECG peep sight ordered and put on it.
I started off with some Rem. 405gr factory loads just to see where it shot. First 3 at 50 yards were a nice little triangle 1/2 inch from one another right all in the X-ring which measured 2" on this target.
Next I went to some pretty warm 350 gr loads which printed a good foot lower but grouped just as well.
Since it was starting to get late and I was satisfied it went bang, I packed up and headed home.
Boy, I'm gonna love using this baby this fall hunting elk.

Sounds nice. I was in a gunshop last week in Helena and there was a #1 45-70 on the used-gun rack. I picked it up and didn't want to put it down. That is a classy little rifle.
I let a Marlin 45-70 get away from me years ago. It is a real fun round for a reloader.

I have one that shoots 1/2" groups with bullets from 300grs to 460grs. It is going to the woods this year with 350grs at 2175fps. reflex264
