I had a small stroke a few weeks ago, and I have recovered but it made me think how possibly some day I could be in a state to not enjoy the collection of 99's (Dead or incapacitated). I have become quite benovelent and am giving my collection to those worthy. Son in law gets one and son has taken a few lately. I gave a Mod.12 3 inch mag to my Bro In law. He is older than I , so I may get it back. Here is the point. I decided to give a Business partner one of my 99's and as I look through them I really cannot part with one as they are too pristine and need to be protected. He would hunt with it! Where should I look for a good shooter in .300, or .308..preferably an"F" I want to spend under $500.00

That's very nice of you. Wish I had an F to sell you, but they pop up on gunbroker/etc fairly often. I'll keep an eye open and send you links to any.

Actually, I've got a link to one in your back yard I'll PM to you.

Hey Dave, glad to hear that you came through in good shade. Things like a stroke can sure change your out look on life.

I have now found two "F"'s and they are $500.00 and $450.00 The one has a cheek piece stock(after market) and a scope, but is a 150 miles away. I will probably get the original for $500.00 Thanks for your interest and help. It is cold here today!

Realistically,(that is a long word for me)I cannot bring myself to take a 1930's as new 99 into the field. I loaned a nice Take down .250 to my Brother-in-law once and he put a nice gouge in the stock while getting on a rank horse. ( should have shot the SOB).. Horse I mean. Honestly now, if you had a Vintage NIB "T" .250, would you hunt it?( I have one..HE HE )

Happy winter, Ladies and Gents!

Well, I can't take it any longer. This isn't a vintage T in 250, but it is a darn nice vintage K in .300 and it's my hunting pard this season.

What he said.

Pristine is one thing, but (speaking personally) the real gift is your gesture.

Let him shoot the gun.

Right next to the vintage LH 30-06 Weatherby MkV I bedded and worked up loads for deer season.

This 300R could have been headed to your door for under $400

There seems to be more sub-$400 99s lately in this tough economy

That ramp looks like a typical 99 ramp to me. I doubt it was dremeled. For sub 400 I'd have taken a look.

Dave, Glad to hear your well...or as well as ya can be. You could always send a pristine 99 my way. I know better than to ruin um. Tell me about some of the knives you got? Any folders?

When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
