It still boggles my mind that the Flag of the United States of America is not welcome everywhere within the USA. I cannot imagine what kind of "corporate-think" would decide it is inappropriate to display our nations flag. I won't argue with them, it is their business and their choice to deny the Kiwanis the right to use the US Flag during a ceremony, but it is our right to tell Olive Garden to stick up their ass. Secular progressives.

My sister has some corporate muckity muck job with Darden's in Fl. Saw her last night before this thread came out. She is heading back home to Fl this morning. I'll email this to her later today to see what her response is. I know she won't be responding probably until Monday. I'll let you what she says if I get a response from her.

sometimes it takes a strong stance to correct, or clarify a company's position. Having worked 10 years for Darden Restaurants, I know only too well how 'unstated corporate policy' can be misconstrued, and can screw things up vis-a-vis customer relations. I think Olive Garden has done the right thing, and are making a genuine effort to fix a bad PR situation. I know from 'sperience that the General Manager of that location has taken a severe azz kicking.

I have never eaten there before,what have I missed?
Someone told me they serve soup and pasta and when i eat out I get a steak. You ain't missing much. There are a lot better pseudo-Italian places to go.

I am Italian, and Olive Garden food isn't...... Me, too....correct on all counts.That stuff ain't Italian food. With the flag stuff tacked on top of that,another reason to avoid it. I always thought of Bob as Irish.  But he always thought I was a veterinarian,and I don't even like veggies.

I think it's just great when a business tells you in many ways they don't want you business. I always comply. It really is as simple as that. Tell your friends and they wont go either, or they dont care about the cause, whatever it may be. It doesnt need to be a big deal. Send a letter to the editor in the paper and state why your group wont meet there any more and why you wont go to ANY of their restaraunts in the future.

After reading through the thread I see that Darden is making the proper effort to fix the situation. I would say that it most likely was a local thing and not a company policy when regarding the AMERICAN flag. Nothing was said about the Kiwanis banner or anything. If Olive Garden comes through and makes right on this, I would consider it a victory and resume visiting there stores. I dont care for italian food that much, so I still wont be going unless my wife makes me....
