Looking at the picture of your muzzle, would you say it has 4 grooves. Looks to be 4, the web site states 6, I think. Just asking, no biggie.
You have a very nice rifle.
Bust another big ole Bull Elk.
Happy Hunting.
Hammer, you're right it's a 4-groove. I've never seen a Kimber 30 cal with anything other than a 4-groove so I can only assume the catalog 6-groove is a misprint.

Very nice. Now they just need to get those 280AI Montana's out... I saw my first 84L Montana in 25-06 yesterday. One is on Guns America too. I'm surprised they're offering a 25-06 before the 270 version.

Brad that is slick! Good luck with it!I really like that rifle!!!! Bob, it's one of those "better felt than telt" sort of rifles... feels VERY nice in the hands. Balance is spot-on... pictures don't do any of that justice. Was going to put a 3-9x40 on it but the little 6x36 just felt better and I've become a bit of a 6x sort of guy (KISS).

Very nice Brad. Wanted to fondle one before I ordered my mauser built. Since I couldn't find one, I went ahead with a custom mauser. Ah, me. No regrets, but I do wonder. E E, rifles come, they go. There's always another rifle to be bought and played with...

I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

What was your reason for putting emery cloth to the feed ramp and rails? I have a Montana in 338 Federal that feeds kind of rough and was wondering if I should send it back to Kimber. My only reservation is that they might bugger it up. I'm planning on buying a Montana in 280 AI when they come out and was wondering how the 84L feeds.

Even though I have a couple Kimber .308Win in the stable (Montana and Select), I've been having a hard time convincing myself I don't need nor want an 84L Montana 30-06.
You're not helping my internal conflict Brad...

As a matter of course, with every new rifle I always emery the feedramp and rail undersides with #600... helps keep everything moving like slippery sausages.

Brad, you know how I feel and graviate to those old relics Winchester made before 1964. But I can't think of a single reason not to grab that rifle and use it forever. Well done sir!

I have been fond of Kimber's since I bought my first left handed one back in the early 80's. Man I wish NY Kimber would start making the left hand model.
If they did I would have a 30-06 leftie in a heart beat. I hear this may be the SHOT show that they bring out the lefty??
I might just have to break down and order me one of the Montana Rifles in a lefty. But I would rather it be a Kimber. Tom.
