Looking for some helpful info regarding Marlin 1894 .375 win, Price check & tips to look for. The Rifle is said to be in great condition with a few safe marks, and shot very little. Thank You in advance, Deen.

The Marlin 1894 was never chambered in .375 Winchester.

OK, The seller doesn't know what he's talking about and neither do I. Thanks Swampman.

I thought it was the 336 that was chambered in 375 WCF?

If you can get it for around $450 you'd be doing pretty good.

The 375 WCF is fun, I have a Win 94 Big Bore that I enjoy hunting with.

Marlin called the rifle you are referring to as the Model 375. It is basically a Model 336 chambered for the 375 Winchester cartridge. Mine is a fine rifle and it shoots quite well. The going price, depending on condition and other factors, seems to be in the 400 to 600 dollar range.

Thanks for the reply everyone. I recieved pics of the Marlin this evening, It is indeed a mod 375. It appears to be in real nice condition, Has all the sights including the front hood. The wood seems nice and The butt pad looks original too. It has said to have been fired less than 20 or so rounds This will be my first Marlin, Please pardon my lack of ------ Deen.

My opinion, if the price is right I would snap that baby up in a heart beat. My Marlins are very accurate and sweet handling. The .375 is a great round too, but it!

.375 are hard to find and very accurate. One of the best calibers Marlin ever chambered IMO. The ammo is worth some too. It would bring $600.00 around here.

Buy it! The Marlin 375 is not common and it ought to be a fun round to shoot and a fine deer getter. It looks to be in outstanding condition and you even get some rounds with it. Marlins tend to be very accurate; my 444 shoots cloverleafs at 100 yds and I hear the same story from a lot of guys. I'd snag that one...

That would be correct, neither you nor the seller know what you are talking about. The 1894 is the short action available in pistol cartridges, .25-20, .32-20, etc. It will not handle a .30-30 length cartridge. The .375 Win was available in a variant of the 336.

Have a good day!

Tom

I sold one about a year ago for $425. I prefer my Winchester Big Bore 375 over the Marlins. I didn't care for the micro-groove barrel in the Marlin either.

I know what you mean about that micro groove barrel. It's a pisser when you walk down to your 100 yd target and you've got one ragged hole. When you're my age, by the time you make the 100 yd walk, you forget how many rounds you fired. Dammit...

Doesn't matter how many you fired, as only one hit the paper! wink

Somebody who shoots a Winchester would interpret it that way. We understand...so sad...
