Picked up a 2 lb canister to try in my 280AI but I cant find any load data. Anybody have a recipe?

Sierra lists starting load at 49.8gr at 2700 and max is 59.7 at 3000. I have no experience with this powder so I couldn't recommend anything about it prom personal experiences. good luck

There is a campfire load floating around that is considerably higher than that, and it is HOT!

The "Borden" load is 63.5gr with 140grNBT for 3200ish fps.

Nosler manual #4 has 280 AI loads.
It lists N 165 for the 150 gr. Partition: Starting load is 57.0 gr. and MAX Load is 61.0.
For the 160 gr. Partition,and Ni65, it lists a Starting Load of 55.0 and a MAX Load of 59.0
For 175 Partition, Starting Load of N165 is 52.0, and MAX Load is 56.0.
N160, rather than N165, was used for the 120 and 140 gr. weight bullets. For the loads listed, cases were Remington, and the Federal 210 Primer was used.
This is the place where I usually say:
You did it backwards; buy the manual with the 280AI loads first and then buy the powder.

it was only 1 out of 5 rounds.
didn't notice it until later. which one it was ? weak case ?
dunno, but when i saw it missing, i didn't go back to that powder or load.
btw, 63.0 shot fine, it was that .5 grain more...
imr4350 shot way better in my rifle so i stuck with it.

I grabbed the powder because it was a great deal, I have the Nosler manual but just wanted to see if anyone was using it for 140 gr. weight bullets. I have been using H4831sc and I don't usually go outside of the Hogdon family because I haven't found anything that much better. I took a gamble, we'll see how it works.

buckeye- My sincerest apologies in not being more forthcoming about my ownership of the manual. I should have been more specific that I was looking for 140 gr. load data.
I don't think I was being lazy rude or discourteous it was an oversight, but thanks for all your help, I didn't mean to make you re-type information when you could have been answering someone else's questions elsewhere.

Thanks is advance. I treat it like it's R22, but it's actually just maybe a wee touch slower IME. In my 280 (Not AI) I ran 61grs of N165 behind 140s.

Vv 165 is the powder of choice in my 6.5-284. Not sure about the .280AI. I find it clean burning and in my gun, very accurate with low S.D.'s.

In my 6.5-284, RL-17 was faster than Vv 165, but couldn't match the accuracy. I have a turret scope, calibrated out to 600+ yds. I don't need velocity as much as I need pin point accuracy. In that gun, anyway, Vv 165 rules. I understand that some of the serious long range competitors use Vv 165 in the 6.5-284. The 280 AI has more case capacity than the 6.5-284, which is closer to the std. 280. DF
