I have had both, the 13-40X is Nikon #7467,MC II, and is improved over the other zoom. It is fully multi-coated, with twist-up eyepeice, better for eyeglasses. Its brighter, and is a better choice. I have it on my ED50, and this scope can use the 40X, with ease, the extra reach is nice to have.
Both are good, the 13-40 is a little better.

I just remembered, I was in a Gander Mountain a couple of weeks ago, and they had 2 of these on sale,
at $149.99. That was a nice deal.
