I gave up on getting an Idaho sheep tag. If we apply for sheep/goat/moose, we can't apply for anything else in that year and I like my elk hunting too much. It can take a long time to get a sheep tag, especially since we don't have a point system. There used to be a lot of CA bighorn tags in the SW corner of the state, but diseases greatly reduced sheep numbers and they had to cut the tags way back a few years ago.

It's not over when you lose. It's over when you quit.
Simply outstanding! Way to go Pete. Make sure you give us a full account of your expedition. Don't forget "gearhead" stuff, "rifle" stuff and more photos. Sheep hunts are some of the best reads of all! Way to go!
My home is the "sanctuary residence" for my firearms.
Great ram and bull! That makes a great year. I hope your ram eats good. Mine was early pre-rut, and was better table fare than elk! Look forward to the story on both!

“I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.” John Steinbeck
The thing about Pete's Ram is he made it a REAL hunt... his tag would have allowed him to take a Sheep in a much easier manner off a road but he did it the "right" way.
Would also add, there are a lot of different sheep hunts in Montana given Montana's huge variety of terrain... Pete's is at the top of difficulty.
I really like the way he got his done!
