I got a call today from Hill Country Rifles letting me know my rifle was ready for pick-up. I was having one of their "accurize" jobs done. This is where they inspect barrel, chamber, locking lugs, stock, scope, trigger, etc. Pillar and glass bed the action, free float and re-crown the barrel. Check locking lug contact, check headspace ,adjust trigger, lap scope rings and re-mount scope, Zero at 100yds.
He said with my handloads it shot .349 @ 100 yards. If this is true, I will be one happy camper.
I'm picking it up Jan.6th on my way to Peasall, TX. for my last whitetail hunt. When I get back, I'll head to the range to see what I really get.
I'll post before and after groups for your review.

Buzz let us know what they actually needed to do.
If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer or elk but how he hunted it.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Good to read you've solved whatever ailed the out of box version. I guess an occasional problem with a $1K+ rifle isn't limited to Kimbers.

Both EW's (308&243) I've owned were extremely accurate with SOME bullets. The thing I noticed about my limited sampling was that they both had alot of freebore. Ogive influenced seating depth(as always) and I couldn't load some of the more streamlined bullets out as far as I liked.
Both rifles performed exceptionally well in the accuracy department. I've never owned two other rifles that would shoot so many different bullets into little groups. I should have kept them both!!
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

I've noticed the same thing with my EW. 3 of my other model 70 30-06's (2 pre 64's and a classic) look like the chambers were cut with the same reamer . The EW on the otherhand has a throat that linda lovelace would be jealous of (well maybe that is stretching it ): It is .040" longer than the others. I thought it would be a huge detriment on accuracy but it is doing fine, even with cheap bullets (180 gr. win power points). I get moa accuracy with no problem and with minimal shifting in poi with many different bullets I've tried.

I missed the beginning....I guess it wasn't a shooter? http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/5879654/3Third page. 50 rounds through, all 140 grains. What the heck, spending money on what we want is why we work. P
Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Nothing wrong with doing what you want with your money. Sorry if I came off that way. Looking forward to seeing some dead critters and one hole groups....

Amen Mark, doin all I can do to help. I always do this, buy a gun, put too much money in it and end up selling at a loss. I have a custom .22 about to go on the auction block, same story. Oh well..... Merry Christmas!
