Okay thanks, I may try to take it down. I tried chambering some fired cases in a few other .270 bolt actions of mine and I couldn't close the bolt. So I'd say it definitely has a large chamber.

Here's an update on my progress with this Rem 760 project:

-Thorough chamber cleaning and polishing with an electric drill
-Discovered that the 760 has a large chamber
-Neck sizing new fire formed Remington and Winchester cases

Good news: I've fired some 60,000 psi loads using new full length sized brass and once fired neck sized brass without any sticking cases!

Bad news: It's still regularly hanging up on the action bar lock. However, it's easy to free up since the cases are no longer sticking.

This leads me to believe I had a combination of things going on:

-rusty/dirty chamber
-sizing & age of brass
-action bar lock issue

Numrich has a new action bar lock and spring. They were pretty cheap so I went ahead ordered them. Not sure that's going to solve the problem, but we'll see. Anyone have any suggestions?

Looks like the new spring and action bar lock fixed it. I've fired 20 rounds through it without a failure. I guess there was too much slack in the action for proper functioning. Thanks for all the help.

Cool , now you can procede to work up loads that will shoot cloverleafs !
