99's are great rifles, but to me thats exactly what they are, rilfes, tools I use to hunt with. I don't buy 99's to hang on a wall or store in a safe. I don't buy them to have people uuuh's and awww's because they're factory original 99's with cheap walnut stocks with poor checkering.
<br>If I can improve the tools I work with, it's to my advantage, if I can improve the function of the tool and make it look better that's even better.
<br>Thanks for the stock info. it's going to make my 358 even sweeter.

You might also consider an MPI fiberglass set http://www.mpistocks.com, just get somebody besides them to fit it to your rifle.

That is the first time I've seen that bit of info on the retempering...thanks. Do you know if that is stated in any of the catalogs or price lists?
