These new bullets don't require a sabot. Has any member used them and if so what results have you obtained? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hornady introduces another choice in true easy load convenience with the 300 gr. FPB Life is full of choices and now you can choose between the Hornady 350 gr. FPB, or the new 300 gr. FPB. Maintaining its specially engineered profile, requiring no lube, and a mere 25 pounds of loading force, the new 300 gr. FPB is one of the easiest loading muzzleloader projectiles on the market. Not only is the new 300 gr. FPB clean and convenient, its extremely accurate. Engineered and tested to work flawlessly in all 50 cal muzzleloaders, the FPB features exclusive Flex Tip Technology from Hornady. The Flex Tip creates a very streamlined and very durable meplat that maximizes exterior ballistics. Upon impact the flexible elastomer tip compresses into the nose of the bullet causing violent expansion. This expansion creates a large temporary cavity, resulting in a very dynamic transfer of energy to the target for minimal tracking. Features: Elastomer tip aids in expansion and clean kills at impact velocities from 800 to 2000+ fps. Specially engineered profile delivers flat trajectories for long-range accuracy. Copper jacket and specially engineered profile eliminate bullet/sabot fouling and the need for a plastic skirt. Compared to other easy load bullets, the FPB requires a mere 25 pounds of loading pressure, and no plastic skirt. http://www.hornady.com/store/50-Cal-300-gr-FPB/

They shot like crap out of my DISC Elite.4"-5" groups out of a sub moa gun.And they are pretty hard to load, it takes more than the advertised 25 lbs. to get one started.

Inaccurate and hard (very hard) to load in a Cabela's Hawken. Hard enough to load that even if they were accurate, I would not hunt with them.

I've never tried them because I haven't heard to much praise for them, as a matter of fact I've heard more negative then positive.

I just got back in from sighting in my triumph as I switched from black powder/200 GR. PR bullets to 10 year old triple 7 behind these bullets,350 gr. version, for the next two and final days of NY's season. Only took 6 shots with 110 grs. T7. Two to move the POA. Three for a very tight group at 100 yards. Last one at a clump 150 yards away that was killed. Didn't swap between rounds and they loaded pretty easy,IMO. The initial engraving took a bit but then they slid down easily. Felt a bit of resistance just above the powder where there was a slight crud ring but it was easy to seat them the rest of the way. Felt like they may of scraped the crud ring off. FWIW.

I used to shoot the 350 grain version in a Knight American with 100 grains of Triple 7 FFF. They ran about 1650 fps and would print 3 shots into 1.75" @ 100 yards, open sights. Great shooters and very reliable penetration/expansion on the 7 deer I took. You need a good bullet starter, like the spinjag I use, as they are a might hard to start. They need a good whack, but go down the barrel pretty smooth from there. I have switched to a Remington 700 ML and shoot sabots now. If I had not switched I'd still be using them.
Good luck, Tom

It appears the opinions are split concerning this bullet.I guess like other facets of shooting,I'm just going to have to try them for myself.
Thanks for the input.I guess I'll order some and see how they work in my gun.

350grn FPB fired into a 5x5 Bull elk at 40yds. Shattered onside shoulder and was at rest under the hide behind the off side shoulder. 80grn BH209 lit by CCI209 in an TC Encore. They shoot terrible in my Knight USAK, but shoot fairly well in my Omega with 70-80grn BH209. That is a light charge, but it actually pushes them faster than Pyro or 777 with much stiffer loads. Easy to load in every MLer I've tried them in. Accuracy has came with light charges(~80) in several rigs for us. Very picky, may shoot awesome at 80grn and all over the place as you approach 100+

Must be my problem just got back from the range and with 110gr BH 209 5" groups figured I may need to back off but didn't have enough time to play around. They loaded easily though

PM me and I'll send ya a pack to try gratus I'm sorry that I haven't responded sooner but I was out of town for almost ten days.My dad's friend is opening a gun store 150 miles from my home and he needed help doing some wiring and carpentry. Thanks for the offer dvdegeorge it is much appreciated but it's not necessary as my dad's friend ordered some for me. Your unselfish offer is something I've come to expect from members of our shooting community.

I have shot about 100 of them in my Encore Pro Hunter. They are accurate with a charge of 100 gr BH209 in my rifle.
Enough already, just shoot it!
