I recently purchased a rifle with Iver Hendriksen's name on the barrel. It is chambered in 338-06 and has a Kolmorgen 2 3/4X 'scope attached. The rear sight on the barrel has been removed and a Lyman peep sight installed on the rear bridge. There is a blank to go in the sight when the optical sight is in place. The layout of the rifle is pure 1950's. It is a VZ24 Mauser. The rear bridge is stippled as is the barrel stud front sling swivel. The rifle came with a set of RCBS dies dated in the late 70's.
I can remember Elmer Keith mentioning Hendriksen and an article in an old Handloader magazine and Pet Loads mentioning a 35 Whelen made by Hendriksen for Ken Howell. Is there any way of researching when this rifle was made and for whom? It shoots very well and without changing the sight setting it grouped centered about 2 1/2 inches high at 100 yards with 225 grain Accubond bullets. Fired cases show a very well defined chamber, but with a longer looking neck than '06 cases.

I still have one of my friend and mentor Iver Henriksen's rifles just sold the .458 Winchester Magnum to a friend. Gave the .35 Whelen in Ken Waters's book to my son in 1983. Gave the .280 Remington to the doctor who'd been so good to my folks 1969, IIRC.

and signed copy 3 of the loose-leaf book

Still have the .358 Norma Magnum the fanciest rifle that Iver ever built for me.

No way to guess whom Iver built that .338-06 for.

A long the way in life , many times a guy never gets a chance to thank those whose advice he took heart and those who have inadvertently mentored you somewhat. I have a 35 Whelen today because of Elmer Keith and that story on the 35 Whelen made by Iver H. owned by Ken Howell and wrote about by Ken Waters. I have a 338-06 thanks to inspiration by Steve Timm. Thanks, Ken and Steve for the insight. Have a great Xmas all of you. Magnum man

I have a rifle with Henriksen on the barrel that has been stippled on the front and rear receiver bridge. It is a 257 Roberts, but the caliber was not stamped on the rifle when I got it so I had a gunsmith stamp it for me. I also had the 3-position safety installed. It is a pleasure to look at and use.

Here part of the name and stippling can be seen.

Beautiful rifle, CKW, and chambered for a dandy cartridge.

Hi, I have a rifle stamped Henriksen on the barrel. Its marked 25 Neidner. It is a Husqvarna mauser action. The stock is almost the same but is a lighter colored wood. It is the best shooting rifle that I have ever owned. It puts 120 grain grand slams in the same hole if I'm having a good day. Anyone know where Iver Henriksen got his barrels?. You never see his rifles for sale. I found this one at a gun show. I paid 1400.00 for it. That may have been a bit high but,I wanted it. I have a Charlie O'Neil rifle that is a 333 OKH belted and also a John Buhmiller rifle in 22-250. Both of those are Remington 1917 actions. They both shoot fine also. There is an O'Neil rifle for sale on Guns America for 3800.00 right now. It is a 333 too. Thanks I enjoy this forum very much.
