The more I look at the tikka t3 lite the more I like it the only thing I don't like is the stock I don't care for it. But I would probably replace it anyways.

Best factory rifle, for the money, that you can buy. Show me a smoother, stronger, more accurate factory barreled action...
Bell and Carlson is inletting for Tikka now, and they're some nice stocks.
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

I think for the money the FN winchester's are better. I like Tikka, but I think the m70 is a better deal from a highly reputable company

I like my three pretty well. They can be a bit specific about what bullets they like.
Overall, the stock is the week point in the system.
I tend to hunt mine more than the remchesters I own.

I've looked at them on and off thru the years, but the price of the clips is crazy. $55 for a 3 shot clip and $75 for a 5shot.
I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

I think for the money the FN winchester's are better. I like Tikka, but I think the m70 is a better deal from a highly reputable company LMAO here. So, Travis 13, are you implying that Tkka/Sako/Beretta aren't reputable companies? I've poo pooed the T3 before, and ate my words! Those damn things shoot... I kinda want one Make mine a 260 and top it with a 3-9x Loopy with an M1 please! Yes they do shoot - at least the eight T3s I've owned all have! But you don't need a 260, they built/build them in a better cartridge called the 6.5x55 SE. And no, you can't have my 6.5 Swede Tikka T3! The more I look at the tikka t3 lite the more I like it the only thing I don't like is the stock I don't care for it. But I would probably replace it anyways. What don't you like about the stock - the style or material? If it's the black plastic, they make them with regular wood stocks. Plus, some of the Tikkas had laminated wood stocks and there was even a fancy version with upgraded wood called the Deluxe. If it's the style, the aftermarket I like my three pretty well. They can be a bit specific about what bullets they like. Overall, the stock is the week point in the system. I tend to hunt mine more than the remchesters I own. Funny, all eight of my Tikka shot every bullet I every tried fairly well and by that I mean right around MOA after trying only a few different powders. Some of rifles have produced sub-MOA groups right out of the box with the first loads shot. Those rifles included four 223s (3 light & 1 heavy including my current Deluxe), one HB 308, a 30-06 and two 6.5 Swedes (one wood & one SS/synth). A friend has several and all of his shoot just as well. I'm curious about your comment about "the stock being the week point in the system" - what is weak about the Tikka stocks? Yeah, the plastic can be a little slick in the cold but it's not terrible. No, it's not AAA claro walnut with 20 LPI checkering but what do you expect for the price? The only aspect of their stock design that I find annoying is it can be a minor PITA trying to line up the recoil lug with the *bedding* groove machined in the bottom of the action. If I find one in .223 with 8" twist I'm going to have to buy it. Travis Travis- Just go down to Big R or Bing 'n' Bobs and buy/order one. All four of my 223 T3s had 8 twist barrels, and I've never seen a 223 Tikka T3 not come with a 1-in-8 twist. However, I've read that they built some with 12 twist barrels but never imported them to the USA? Tikka T3s are great, and the new Winchesters from FN are excellent... Its a blonde, brunette, redhead thing. Personal taste.. Tom's comment hits the nail on the head, although I would have used a different personal taste analogy: American, Irish or Scottish... Are these Tikkas perfect rifles - no. The blueing is weak and thin, the price charged for the detachable magazines is highway robbery, and for some cartridges the magazine length is too short for ultra long bullets. I've read complaints about the OEM rings slipping and plastic parts breaking but I've never had a problem with any of mine. And I shot my 30'06 T3 Lite many hundreds of rounds and it recoiled very hard and fast, and was hunted hard many times in way below zero weather with NO issues. Overall, Tikka T3s are well built, very accurate rifles a superb trigger (no lousy lawyer triggers with hokey levers for the Finns!) being sold at a decent price that come ready to shoot with no extra tuning required. Yes, it would be nice if they were built in a true short action, in more rifle looney cartridges, with highly polished, deeply blued metal and AAA+ wood stocks with fine checkering but then they would cost lots and lots of money and folks would b*tch about how much they cost!
Pursuit may be, it seems to me, perfect without possession. Robert Kelley Weeks (1840-1876)

pseshooter300 - for the $$ invested into the Tikka T3 it's a very good value. I have one in 6.5 Swede and sure the stock 'could' be better BUT if you don't like synthetic you can always choose walnut. IMO - Beretta should import Tikka T3 with laminated stocks. For some reasons models shown on the Tikka web-site are not available in the good ole US of A. (?)

They can be a bit specific about what bullets they like. I have only one, so it is not a good sample, but it shoots everything I have tried well, other than the VLD's for some reason.

What about the problems I here with a plastic part on the bolt cracking? I've heard plenty of people complain about the plastic bolt shroud, but I've never actually seen, or head of one breaking. If you're concerned, there are sources here in Canada, as well as Aus, that sell aluminum bolt shrouds for the T3.
