not factory, dunno who made that one....local gunshop had a bunch of stocks hanging from the rafters in his place, mostly factory takeoffs, i spied this one in the pile. i liked the lines of this one, and if i recall, he sold it to me for $90.

looked like hell when i got it, had 10 years worth of dust & dirt on it, finish was a bit rough, had no idea there was decent grain under there. cleaned it up, buffed it smooth, few coats of wax, and my 700 dropped right in.

found a limbsaver pad that was just about the right size...LOP is perfect for me, and stock balances well. i'd kinda like to find a few more for that price. wink

Just picked this one up a week ago. It's a 1988 700 Mountain Rifle in 30-06, topped with an older Burris Fullfield 3x9x40. Both appear unused. Got a great deal on it...couldn't pass it up.

I like the rifle. The first Mountain rifles were the most appealing for me. I'm always on the lookout for an '06 or .280.

When I was crossing the border into Canada, they asked if I had any firearms with me. I said, "Well, what do you need?"

My only 700, but I sure like the "Classic" stock. Between scopes..., 250 Savage.
