Sure, there are better options. I thought it was interesting for $10. Not a lot of $10 options available.

Theres a 7mm-08 w/replaced wood locally....anyone interested? I could go see if it's still in the shop. Serial number looked wacky.

When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Might check ZookaTx. I offered him mine but he wants a shooter.

You bet, Jed, please check it out if you have time. I'm looking to make a "project gun" for my descendants, with nitrided barrel, some other long-life treatment for the rest of the metal, and I have one of those replicated stock blanks to be made into beautiful wood. Not a collector rade for sure, but instead a mild shooter for the family to hunt with. Looks like the 7-08 will be around for a while so is a great choice....

I don't know when they stopped making the .300, but you will need a .243/.308 style receiver for the 7mm-08 to feed properly. There may have been this style receiver chambered in .300 Savage, I don't know. Strength has nothing to do with the change over. The early .300's had less space in the magazine area.

there are plenty of 99s chambered in 300 that would accept the 7mm-08 just fine... but GP is right, not all... only those serialized after 900,000.

The 7mm08 on GB didn't last long.

A classic example of:

A gun is worth whatever one person on the planet is willing to pay for it. wink

Actually, two. The seller and the buyer. They're the only two important people in any transaction though, so who cares about the rest? grin grin grin

Whew! You sold that one mighty quick, Fireball! My congrats on the great sale of a fine, super well preserved, and very rare rifle! It went above my top line by about 3x, but that is not at all hard because I am a cheapskate shoot em at rocks and cans and game and stuff guy.
If T 22 HPs were as rare back in the 1940s as 7mm-08s are today, well.... just sayin', they aint makin any more of em... just sayin... (And I do not own either darnit).
